Lucas' words didn't make Chelsey feel happy. In contrast, she found them ironic.

She wasn't able to win Lucas' heart even though she put in three years of her time. What was the point of all this now that they had divorced?

Chelsey didn't treat this as Lucas realizing he'd missed out on something good. Rather, she thought he was doing this because he was used to being taken care of by her. He had become reliant on her without any romantic feelings.

With a sneer, Chelsey said, "No need. As long as I'm still sane, I'll always choose to be with a man who dotes on me like a princess, not someone who only treats me as some caretaker."

Lucas was speechless. Though he had apologized to Chelsey, it was clear his words had wounded her deeply. They were like knives; it hurt regardless of whether the knives remained in or were pulled out of her heart.

Chelsey ignored Lucas and continued walking out of the hospital. Timothy was waiting for her right by the road.
