Chapter 5

Alpha Chase's Pov

The past few weeks had been hectic, from attending human meetings for my businesses to dealing with pack issues and challenges as the Alpha.

After I sent the girls I picked from the selection to be groomed, I was too busy to visit them or monitor their progress as I left it all in the hands of my Beta. I haven't informed them of what I needed them to do but I planned on addressing that today.

After a long day of pack meetings and discussions, I arrived at my home, the six-story pack house.

As I stepped into the pack house, I immediately noticed the tension in the air. The pack members were gathered in groups, whispering to each other and glancing nervously at me. I could sense their fear and uncertainty.

Once they noticed my presence, they all became mute and I knew something was wrong, and I quickly made my way to my office.

As I opened the door, I was met with a sight that made my blood boil. My elder brother, Ryan, was sitting in my chair, his face twisted with anger.

"Alpha Chase," he spat out, his voice dripping with venom. "We need to talk."

I took a deep breath and tried to remain calm. "What's going on, Ryan?" I asked as I dropped my jacket on the chair next to me.

Ryan stood up and approached me, his eyes blazing with fury. "You know damn well what's going on," he growled. "You've been neglecting your duties as Alpha. You're too busy chasing after humans, and women, and running your businesses to take care of your pack."

I felt my anger rising, but I forced myself to stay composed. "I have not been neglecting my duties," I said firmly. "I've been doing everything I can to balance my responsibilities. And you of all people must be aware of that." I said coldly, not caring about the age difference between us.

Ryan snorted. "Balancing your responsibilities? You haven't even been around to deal with the rogues who have been attacking our borders. We've had several casualties because of your incompetence! Father should have let me become Alpha instead," he roared, slamming his fists on my table.

I clenched my fists, feeling the urge to shift and show Ryan who was boss. But I knew that wouldn't solve anything. He was my elder brother and people were at the pack-house, waiting for the outcome of this matter and I needed to find a way to calm him down and address his concerns.

"Ryan, I understand your frustrations," I said calmly. "But attacking me like this isn't going to help anyone. I need to work together with the people to find a solution."

Ryan sneered at me. "And what solution do you suggest, Alpha? More empty promises? More lies?"

I took a step forward, my eyes locked on Ryan's. "I suggest we have a meeting with the rest of the pack and discuss our options. We need to come up with a plan to deal with the rogues and any other challenges that come our way."

Ryan hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "Fine. But if you don't step up and start acting like a true Alpha, I'll make sure the pack knows it."

I watched as he stormed out of my office, his anger palpable. It took all of my self-control to not hit him and give him a bloody nose as she sat on my chair and roared at me but I had to keep my cool.

I took a deep breath and let it out slowly, trying to calm myself down. Ryan had always been a thorn in my side, but I couldn't let his behavior distract me from the task at hand. I needed to lead my pack and protect them from any threats.

I grabbed my things and walked to my room. As I walked by, the people greeted me but I didn't pay attention as my mind was focused on getting a lady tonight and burying myself deep inside her.

As I opened the door to my room, the familiar scent of my own space calmed me down. I dropped my things on the bed and took a moment to collect myself. I couldn't let Ryan get under my skin like that again.

Once I got to my room, I threw my bag on the bed and headed straight to the bathroom. I turned on the shower and let the warm water wash over my body, relaxing my tense muscles. I closed my eyes and let out a contented sigh.

I grabbed my body wash and began lathering myself up, enjoying the feel of the suds on my skin. I couldn't help but think about the new girl I could find from the girls ever since Feina decided to leave after my last outburst.

I finished washing up and turned off the shower, stepping out onto the soft bath mat. I wrapped a towel around my waist and walked back to my bedroom. I opened my closet and began to choose my outfit for the night.

As I looked through my clothes, I couldn't help but feel a sense of restlessness. I needed to release my pent-up energy, and I knew exactly how to do it. I quickly dressed in a free size top and free pants.

I walked out of the room and headed to the kitchen. I grabbed my coffee from the counter as I would every night and left the kitchen.

I walked towards the elevator and pressed the button for the second floor where the rooms of the girls I picked were located. As I arrived on the second floor, I walked out to find Lisa, so she could bring the girls out.

But as I turned the corner, I bumped into someone. I looked down and saw a tiny girl, barely reaching my chest. She had long brown hair, luscious skin, and an average size body. I couldn't help but feel a jolt of electricity run through my body as I looked at her.

"I'm sorry," the beautiful frame stammered with her voice hoarse from crying as I could hear her sobs. Without waiting for my response, she continued running away and I was dumbstruck.

After she disappeared from my sight, I looked at myself and noticed she had spilled my coffee on me.

"Damn it," I muttered, annoyed at the girl for spilling the coffee on me.

I turned back around, intent on finding her and giving her a piece of my mind. But when I reached the end of the hallway, she was nowhere to be seen. I sighed, realizing that it was a lost cause.

As I walked back to my room to change my shirt, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something different about that girl. Something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. I pushed the thought to the back of my mind and focused on getting ready for the night ahead.

But as I walked towards my room, I couldn't help but feel drawn to her. Something about her had caught my attention, and I couldn't shake it off.

As I got in and stared at myself in the mirror, my mind raced with thoughts of the mysterious girl. Who was she? And why did she seem so upset? Was the pack house not good enough for her?

I took a deep breath and tried to push the thoughts aside, but I couldn't shake off the feeling that I needed to find her. Suddenly, my phone rang, interrupting my thoughts.

I picked up the phone and saw that it was a text from an unknown number. The message read: "Alpha, something had happened to the halfling, the witch's daughter. I fear she's dead!”

My heart sank as I read the message. The halfling was not an important member of our pack but because she was the daughter of one of the most powerful witches in the supernatural world, she was important to me, to my desires.

If she was dead, it could have serious consequences as I planned to use her for something beneficial to the pack and my revenge against her kind.

Without hesitation, I grabbed my clean shirt and headed toward the door. I needed to find out what had happened to the halfling and make sure that my pack was not attacked in any way.

As I stepped outside, I heard a noise behind me. I turned around and saw a figure standing in the shadows, watching me. It was Ryan, the one person I didn't want to deal with right now. But what did he want? And why was he here? Was he involved in her disappearance just to get to me?

Without thinking, I walked over to him and grabbed him with my Alpha strength, pinning him to the corner.

"Where is she, Ryan?” I asked with my Alpha voice, my eyes changing to that of my wolf.

He choked, "Let me go if you want to find her."

His words made me angrier but I had to let go of his neck, "Where is she?" I asked, clenching my fists.

He massaged his neck before speaking, "The girl, she's …"
