Chapter 23

Regaining my consciousness, I heard several voices, both familiar and unfamiliar, around me. Curious about what they were talking about, I still shut my eyes while enduring the strong smell of antiseptic, my least favorite smell.

“We did some tests to check on whatever is wrong with her but we found nothing. She is completely normal,” an unfamiliar voice stated.

“You mean… either she is truly sleeping right now or pretending to be asleep?” I was more than sure that that was Alexander. There was a hint of annoyance and anger in his voice that made me hesitant to open my eyes.

He was indeed right about me pretending to be asleep right now but I was definitely in pain back then. That was no pretense. Still, even I was ignorant of the reason why I had that chest pain and even lost consciousness. Wanting to explain my side, I opened my eyes and the first person I locked gaze with was Alexander.<
