MELISSA’S POV

I didn’t like such dreams as they frightened me to the bones and they felt so real that it made me scared of sleeping. There was no time to keep brooding over the nightmare as I could be late for work if I kept thinking about it.

I got ready for work and as I was locking the door to my apartment, my landlady appeared and walked towards me.

“Good morning, ma’am.” I greeted, with a slight smile on my face.

“Morning. Just here to remind you that you are to pay more than half of what you owe me, which is your rental fee.”

“Ma’am. Please allow me to pay half. I haven’t started receiving enough as I just started work at the company.”

“Melissa? You heard me right, isn’t it? No excuses.” She said, then walked out.

I sighed. I was thinking I was going to be able to keep an amount to myself, especially with the raise I could have earned, but Layla’s loose mouth has cost me my salary and raise for the month.
