Chapter Five

Sydney and Kayla turned to Bella with questionable glares. They noticed the new guy staring at her and couldn't help but wonder if they had met before.

"What?" Bella shrugged, noticing their stares.

"You know that hottie? Introduce me!" Kayla bit her lip.

"Oh stop it. I don't know him from anywhere. Just like you, this is the first time I'm seeing him." She answered and started walking away while the girls trotted behind her. Bella could not help but wonder where she had met those dreamy hazel eyes before, random thoughts about him popped up in her head throughout that day.

After their classes, Bella and her friends went to her their apartment where she told them that she would be going to see an new apartment that she was considering moving into.

"You know Bella, you can stay here with us, you're very welcome here." Kayla stated, not liking the fact that she wanted to be alone.

"I know I'm welcome here but I can't stay." Bella pouted.

"Why can't you? Are you possessed and you don't want us to see?" Sydney asked and they all laughed about it.

"If only they knew.." Bella's wolf whispered to her and she rolled her eyes. She couldn't take the risk of her friends finding out what she was, her kind always had the tendency to stay away from humans as much as they could. The only reason she went to school in the first place was to survive in a world ruled by money and intelligence.

"I can't stay. I don't want to be a burden on you too and there's nothing you can do to convince me otherwise!" Bella said with a tone of finality and quickly put her hair up in a ponytail. She had long, silky hair and it got in her way most of the time.

"I'm just going to take a look at the apartment, I'll be back soon." She blew them kisses before grabbing her little purse and leaving in a hurry.

..

Bella got to the apartment building and met with the agent who decided to show her around the apartment, hoping she would like it and pay for it. They were about to get into the elevator when the agent's phone rang and he answered the call before turning to Bella.

"Miss, you can go ahead, the fifth floor, I'll be with you in a minute." He smiled and walked away. Bella sighed and pressed the elevator door, it opened and she stepped in. She got to the fifth floor and the elevator stopped, as soon as it opened, she tried to step out in a hurry but someone else was getting in hurriedly as well. They both bumped into each other and Bella's purse fell from her hand.

"Oh.. I'm sorry." The masculine, intimidating yet gentle voice came, forcing her to look up to see who owned it. She came face to face with the new guy, the one with the hazel eyes that she hadn't been able to get out of her head.

She took the opportunity to take in his flawless features, he was not only handsome, he had a sense of calmness and a gentle aura. His honest smile only showed the kind of soul he possessed, he was a gorgeous man.

"Miss?" He called, bringing her back to reality after he had enough time admiring her.

Bella picked up her purse and smiled nervously at him. She got his scent and instantly knew he was like her.

"Sorry for bumping into you, I'm Logan by the way." He said again, the smile on his face refusing to fade. Bella found it hard to look in his eyes, they only made her weak in the knees.

"Um.. it's okay." She muttered.

Logan also picked up her scent and knew immediately who she was, she was the same wolf that constantly came around his turf, the same one that had given him sleepless nights. The one that made his wolf scream "MATE!"

"May I know your name?" He asked her, looking at her form with hopeful eyes. Bella still avoided eye contact.

"Sorry, I have to go." She answered and walked away, clutching her purse to her chest. Logan stared at her until she was out of sight before entering the elevator.

"Boss." Cornor called immediately Logan entered the apartment.

"What took you so long to get here?" He asked. Logan sat on the couch and let out a deep sigh before turning to him.

Cornor was Logan's closest friend, the only person he trusted, he wanted to let him know about Bella so badly but decided to keep it to himself until he was sure of his next step.

"I was delayed by someone. I'm here now, any leads?" He asked, snapping out from his thoughts and focusing on the matter at hand.

"Aiden is still insisting that the land belongs to his pack and he would do anything to have it. He has attacked various members of our pack as his warning to us." Cornor explained in details, he seemed to be getting angrier the more he spoke.

"He's in this college right? I'm going to make sure he never remembers that land again." Logan said through gritted teeth. His main aim for enrolling in the college was to be closer to Aiden to find out what he was planning and then crush it. He couldn't bare to watch Aiden continue hurting others just to have his way.

"Are you hungry?" Cornor suddenly asked, Logan smiled at him and shook his head.

"I'm fine. I still have work to do." He answered, getting to his feet. Cornor watched him leave before going into the kitchen to get a snack for himself.

..

The next day at school, Bella ran into Aiden and her sister Zoey in the canteen, displaying their love and affection in public. The sight only worsened her pain, she couldn't get over Aiden, she had tried to but it wasn't working. Seeing him having moments with her sister aggravated her a lot.

She walked out of the canteen in anger, but she hit someone unknowingly. It was Logan. He noticed her foul mood and decided to ask.

"Are you okay? Who got you upset?" He asked. She ignored him and tried walking away but she tripped on a tile and fell forward. Very swiftly, a strong arm wrapped around her stomach, stopping her from falling. The arm pulled her back up to his chest and their eyes met again.
