Chapter Three

"Aiden!" Bella glared at him with tears blurring her vision. She tried as much as possible not to let them drop but the pain was too much for her to bear, she had no idea when the tears poured down her cheeks. 

"How could you do that to me?" She asked, clenching her fists. Zoey avoided eye contact with her sister, know fully well that she had betrayed her.

"Both of you! How could you do this? Aiden, I thought we were in love? Where is all of this coming from?" Bella continued to ask, crying her eyes out. It felt like a dagger had been pierced in her chest, her heart in particular. She couldn't describe how much it hurt.

"Yes Bella, we were in love. But that all changed a few months ago when I realized that I was falling for Zoey. I couldn't help that I fell out of love with you." Aiden stated truthfully, making the situation worse and breaking Bella's heart even more. 

"How could you say that to me?" Bella muttered, losing her voice to the tears. 

"Mother.. father!" She turned to them, hoping that they would do something about it. Alpha Darren shook his head and Luna Diane simply wept.

"I'm sorry sweetheart." Alpha Darren said. There wasn't much he could do. Aiden had the right to reject Bella as his mate or accept her, it was totally up to him. He was still very angry that Zoey would go behind her sister's back in the way that she did.

"How could you!?" Bella yelled before taking off, running out of the house.

"Bella! Bella!" Luna Diane called but she didn't turn, she ran outside, turned into her wolf form and continued to run deep into the woods again, she felt her heart tearing bit by bit.

"What has come over you?" Luna Diane asked Zoey in her room after the guests had left. She sat on the bed, looking sad while her mother glared at her. 

"Tell me! Do you know how angry your father is? I didn't let him come in here because I know he might kill you with his bare hands!" She continued to yell at Zoey.

"What would you have had me do mother?" Zoey finally spoke up. 

"He was the one who came to me and told me that he was in love with me, he told me that he wanted me. What should I do? Reject him?" She questioned, scratching her already messy hair. Luna Diane walked closer to her, her piercing glare making Zoey uncomfortable.

"That's an option you could have taken. Are you happier now that your sister is heartbroken? Are you happy now that she is shattered? I am sure you know just how much she loves Aiden, yet you did this?! You're wicked Zoey, that's what you are! You were even planning the engagement with so much joy which proves that you're nothing but a green snake in green grass!" Luna Diane scolded, at the same time thinking of a befitting punishment for her.

"Mother! How is it my fault that Aiden chose me over her? The damage has already been done, I am the alpha's mate and that isn't going to change. He put the ring on my finger and you all can't do anything about it." Zoey blurted out, giving her mother another big shock. Luna Diane broke down, she had no idea when her daughter turned to be so cunning!

"Zoey!" She yelled.

"What?"

"I'm so disappointed in you! I'll leave you to your cruel fate. I promise you won't go unpunished for breaking your sister's heart!" Luna Diane stated and left the room in anger. Zoey simply scoffed and fell back into her bed.

Bella howled severally at the moon, questioning the moon goddess, wondering what she ever did to deserve the pain she had at that moment. She had always kept the rules, obeyed her parents and did their bidding. She always respected everyone and never went against a single werewolf rule. So what reason could the moon goddess have to punish her in such a way? Why did the one person she love with all her heart betray her in this manner?

After several howls at the moon, she sat on the stone and just stared at it. She suddenly heard a sound behind her and jerked up almost immediately, making a swift turn to face whatever it was that was coming for her. It turned out to be the same majestic wolf she saw the other day. Golden brown fur and deep hazel eyes. She got scared thinking that he was one of the bad werewolves her father talked about.

"I mean no harm" she communicated to him, purring gently.

"I know." He responded.

"You're troubled. Is there a problem?" He asked kindly, his eyes fixed on hers as he growled, moving closer to her slowly. Bella felt her heart racing as he approached her, she didn't know his intensions.

"No, I'm fine. I was just about to head home." She answered. 

"It's dangerous out here pup. Be careful." He said and turned, walking majestically out, the same way he came in. Bella was relieved that he didn't want to harm her, but at the same time, she became more curious about him, she wished she knew where he came from and who he was in his human form. She thought he was mysterious, which only made him more interesting.

Bella ran out of the woods and changed back into her human form. Her dress was already torn and dirty but she didn't mind wearing it like that while walking on the road. The few people on the road that night thought she had gone mad and simply avoided her. Bella decided to find an empty stall where she would sleep for the night, that is if she would get any sleep.

She couldn't stand to go back to the same house where she was betrayed and disgraced. What baffled her the most was that her own sister went and stabbed her in the back like that. It made her both sad and mad. She was filled with rage and spite for Zoey. Why would her own sister do that to her?

Early the next morning, Bella decided to go back to her house, not in tears but in anger. She was done sulking and acting up, now she wanted answers. She wanted to know why she was betrayed and stabbed in the back. She wanted to know the reason why the love of her life chose her sister over her.

She arrived at the house and barged in, getting everyone's attention. 

"Where is Zoey?!" She screamed. Luna Diane rushed out and tried to calm her but she simply refused to listen this time around.

"Mother, let me be. Where is that backstabbing liar!" She yelled. Her ravenous eyes already scanning the house. 

"Calm down, will you? Let's talk about this." Luna Diane pleaded. Bella ignored her and swiftly moved up the stairs, going straight to Zoey's room. She kicked open the door and found Zoey busy on her phone. She grabbed the girl and slapped her hard across the face, Zoey flew off the bed and landed on the floor, chest first.

"That's for cheating on me!"

Bella charged at her again, with no plan to show mercy.
