Chapter fifteen.

"Fetch my phone.” Kathy uttered weakly after the nurse departed, gently massaging her throbbing forehead.

Xavier, his clothes stained with filth, overheard Kathy's authoritative tone, causing his already sour expression to intensify. Nevertheless, he remained silent, aware that he was responsible for her head injury. Xavier retrieved a small black leather bag from the couch and tossed it towards Kathy. Disregarding Kathy's intentions, he promptly exited the ward.

Kathy took her phone from the bag and glanced at the time. It was already 9 AM in the morning. She had missed work, and even if she hadn't, leaving the hospital was out of the question. Frustrated, Kathy let out a helpless sigh and dialed Dominic's number.

While stuck in traffic on his way to work, Dominic noticed Kathy's incoming call displayed on his car's screen. Assuming it could be related to some documents or an important discussion, he promptly answered.

"Miss Kathy, what can I do for you?"

"Sir, I need to take a sick
