Chapter fourteen

Dr Gabriel Nwankolo walked into the ward containing the female white patient that was admitted the day before. It wasn't his duty to attend to her but he wanted to check on the leg again since he was doing his morning rounds anyway. 

He threw the door open and saw that she was fast asleep on the bed. He moved closer to the bed and kept his clipboard and pen on a table beside her bed. 

The wrap around her leg was saggy on the skin and he noted with amazement that her leg was back to it's normal size. 

Gabriel adjusted his glasses in surprise as though it would alter what he was looking at. 

He was one of the doctors that had attended to her the day before and he could have bet half his fortune that she would not have survived the night. 

The rate at which her leg was swelling and the pus... all that pus.... It was like her body was fighting an infection that was more than her body could take.
