Chapter 41

Delilah's POV:

I wasn't expecting him to see Xee outside the restroom. What was he doing there?

Barricading my heart in the walls of concrete, I passed around him without sparing him another glance. But I couldn't move much far as a big, meaty hand clasped around my wrist and halted me.

I closed my eyes for a moment and allowed myself to relish in his warm touch. Tingles shot at the touch and traveled all over my body, giving me a sense of peace and solace. I despised my body for being a traitor and feeling that way and despised some more at the fact that it was craving more of him. It felt like my heart, body, and mind were running in all different directions and I had no idea whom to follow.

My eyes snapped open as he said hoarsely, "You are angry with me."

It wasn't a question. It was a statement. I wriggled my wrist to break free from his hold while hissing, "As I should be..."

I took in a sharp breath as he stepped behind me, leaving only a minute distance between us, "I nev
