Mrs. Jolly

***Avy's POV***

“Thank you for today,” I uttered as I was being escorted out of the restaurant by Bryce.

“No, I should be the one thanking you for today. I had a great time, and it was all thanks to you.”

“Well, then, I'm glad you had a great time just like I did too.”

“Let me take you home, Avy,” Bryce offered. That was so sweet of him.

“Thank you so much for your offer, Bryce, but I have to go home by myself.”

“Huh? Why is that, though?”

“Well…the thing is, I'm not going home now. I have plenty of things to take care of at the office, so I'm actually heading to work.”

“Oh, okay, I'll reach out to you.”

Bryce walked up to me, and for some reason I had wanted to wrap my hands around him, but I didn't know if that would be like me, trying to push things. Do I just let my hands fall back to my side?

Just then, Bryce moved closer to me, he licked his lips nervously, I suppose.

“So, can I give you a goodbye hug?”

I raised my gaze up at myself. That was interesting. How did he know that was precisely what I wanted to do?

“Well…I guess so,” I uttered with raised lips.

Bryce pulled me into a warm hug, and oh, that broad chest was all the comfort a woman could ask for.

***Bryce POV***

I drove into the compound in high spirits. Today's date was just great. I had never expected to have this much chemistry, and I'm so glad we did.

I turned off the engine in my car and went off. With all smiles, I walked into the mansion.

“Bryce dear, where did you go all day?"

I took a glance at the beautiful woman with golden brown hair, which of course was her gray hair, walking towards me, with quick steps.

“I called your office, but you weren't there. I called Oscar as well, but he said that he hadn't visited in a long time.”

“Not again, mom. Why did you go looking for me?”

“Because it's the weekend and I told you earlier that I have a best friend's daughter who will be having dinner with us this evening. You just disappeared from me,” mom complained as she followed me into the house.

“You know I'm always busy mom. Why don't you focus on Chad? I mean, he's single as well.”

“Don't even bring Chad into this matter. Chad has been absent from home for so long. And besides, you are the eldest, and so I have to focus on you even more.”

I paused instantly and turned around to face my mom.

“I don't think I'll be needing any more blind dates, mom, so save yourself the stress of bringing anyone home,” with that, I walked to my room.

“What do you mean? You should explain yourself at a time like this, Bryce, stop keeping me hanging!” Mom said aloud, but I only shook my head and went into my room.

I wonder when my mom will stop trying to make me go out on every date. I had wanted to talk to her about Avy, but I think it's much too early. Not just for my mom to know about her, but for Avy as well.

I know she's the perfect woman for me. I don't need all the time to try to figure out a woman I want to spend the rest of my life with, but then, I think she would be scared if I should invite her over to my place.

I don't want to give her the impression of wanting to rush her into something she wasn't sure of yet. I would like to be sure about her feelings for me.

My mom, though, is obsessed about having grandchildren, but that is going to wait until I'm certain this is what Avy wants as well.

*****Mrs. Jolly's POV****

Mrs. Jolly wished her sons would all be married, so she could have her grandkids running around the mansion and calling her grandma. Ever since the death of her husband, she had missed him and taken care of her boys alone. But now they've all grown up and into their businesses.

Mrs. Jolly couldn't help feeling lonely. Though her sons stay with her, they are hardly ever present at home, especially her second son.

She missed being a mom, so what she greatly wanted was to be a grandmother. This way she wouldn't have to worry about her sons and would have little ones around her.

And of all, the person she's most worried about is her first son, Bryce. Bryce doesn't seem like he's going to get married anytime soon. At first, when he was in his teenage years, he had so many ladies who flocked around him. But ever since the death of their father, which made him take over his father's company, it's been hard on him. And Bryce had been so dedicated to his duties and work that he no longer had time to have a woman in his life or a date.

Mrs. Jolly couldn't count just how many dates she had tried to set her son up for, but he always found a way of escaping the dates every single time.

She wasn't worried about Chad at all because Chad was still moving around with the ladies, and she believed that it wouldn't take that much time before he finally brought a woman home. But it's not the same for Bryce.

She's scared that her first son might end up unmarried, and she is scared that she wouldn't be getting a grandchild from him anytime soon. This brought her to the decision of calling his office.

“Hello, Shawn, I learned Bryce has been going out more often. Do you have any idea where he gives to?”

“Uhm, I don't know about this, ma'am. The boss doesn't tell us where he goes in his personal time.”

“Oh, I see,” Mrs. Jolly instantly dropped the phone. Now she's more convinced than ever that Bryce must be up to something. And what he said to her before going into his room made her believe that he must have gotten himself a woman, but not ready to show her off yet.

If that should be the case, she believed she would have to be a little patient with her son and watch him closely.
