“The Lycan King is going to be mad,” my wolf said, her voice filled with worry, echoing the unease that had been gnawing at me since last night.

“Of course I know that,” I replied, frustration lacing my words. “It’s just… I think I am still a little weak when facing him…”

“Yeah, I understand, I guess. They were our mates for a year,” she said, her tone softening with empathy.

The weight of her words settled over me like a shroud, the memories of the past year flashing before my eyes.
