CHAPTER 66

MITCH CHESTER

THE GUARDS GATHERED themselves from the floor and crowded the door. They hustled in and started to approach Mitch again. The governor shook his head at them, and they stopped and retreated.

"Close the door behind you," the governor called.

When they were alone once more, the governor sniffled and said. "Please have y-your seat, sir."

Mitch frowned but he sat down and pinned the governor down with a hard stare. "Care to explain why your office sent this to my mall?"

The governor gulped, visibly shaken. "What is that?" He asked innocently, reaching out to take the file.

"Don't play dumb with me!"

The governor read through it quickly. "A tax increment. Well, it is, um... it applied to every business in the state."

"I already pay more than enough to the state!" Mitch snarled.

"I know sir -" his words were cut off by the shrill ringing of the telephone on his desk. "Excuse me. I have to take this." He picked up the phone and placed it to his ear. "Governor's office." He paus

I have to let this book go. It’s too short and it’s too vague and it’s just carrying on. I feel like to take my money.
