The meeting with the Elders had gone almost exactly as I had predicted. It had been about my mate. They had requested an audience with her at that moment, but I declined their request. Joye had just arrived and she needed to rest herself. I wasn't ready to introduce her to the problems of the elders just yet.

I had no idea how the Elders got to know about Joye, but I wasn't worried about it just yet. They said they needed to be familiar with their potential queen, but I could tell they had ulterior motives behind their decisions. Whatever they were planning to do, it won't work.

And that was why I needed us to get married as soon as possible. Being mates wasn't going to be enough to thwart the plans of the Elders, but marriage might just be enough.
