Chapter Thirteen

Leonel's POV

I wondered why Miracle was sad after I sent her five hundred thousand dollars. There was something different about her. She seemed distant and preoccupied, almost as if she was hiding something from me.

I informed her about my mum's birthday which was coming up on Sunday and we had to be at my family's house that evening.

"Is everything okay, Miracle?" I asked her, trying to gauge her mood.

"Yeah, I'm fine," she replied, not meeting my eyes.

I could tell that something was bothering her, but I didn't press the issue. I had to go to work, and I couldn't afford to be late.

As I trudged up the stairs, my phone rang and I knew before I even looked at the caller ID that it was my mother. I had been expecting her call, knowing that she would want to give me a piece of her mind after the disaster of the party the night before.
