Marian sat in the passenger seat of the car, while Dennis took the wheel. Leaving the hotel behind, Marian promptly dialed Benedict's number. They had made arrangements the previous night to meet, and for security reasons, Marian suggested meeting at Benedict's house.

"Hello, Mr. Benedict, I'm on my way. Should I come to your house now?" Marian asked.

"I will give you a call," Benedict replied, ending the conversation abruptly.

"Why did he end the call?" Marian wondered aloud, causing Dennis to turn and look at her. Instead of addressing her question, he responded,

"I hope you brought the letter I wrote and printed?"

"Yes."

"In that case, let's wait." Dennis drove for a moment before stopping the car.

"Let me see the letter you've written," Marian requested. Dennis opened his bag and handed her the letter. It was the first time Marian had read its contents. Dennis had instructed her to place the letter on the table after successfully poisoning Benedict.
