“Who is next?”
“Not me.” Kale moved backward.
“I will go,” Angela answered raising her head.
Leila nodded. Angela removed her slippers. Leila picked her wand from her pocket and used it to take Angela to the plank. She closed her eyes throughout the ride until she got to the plank.
She was finding it hard to balance on the plank and the fact the plank was being supported by nothing but blank air made it worse. She tried taking a step but she almost slipped. She lied on the plank and held it for support.
“Almost forgot.” Leila waved her wand and in the twinkle of an eye, they were all wearing proper training uniforms. Tight shirts, firm and flexible pants, gloves that could hold anything firmly, and rubber socks. “Better,” Leila smirked.
“Why does it have to be pants?!”
“It is the best outfit for training!”

It was a cycle that kept on happening over and over again.Voices made him frozen to the ground. He heard the voices but was unable to see who was talking. The voices were coming from a room. His mother and someone he didn’t recognize were having a discussion.“Have you checked that old tower well again?” His mother’s voice was harsh. She was always harsh but never to him. He had seen his mother act cruel and wicked to other people but never to him, unless they were having a dispute.“Yes, your highness but we did not find Angela and her friends.”Angela? Who is Angela? The name was sweet and melodious. It was the name of someone that had to be very beautiful. He imagined how she would look, pretty and amazing.“There has to be something. I need to find that brat and kill her!”His heart gripped in fear. He felt as if he was being dunked in hot lava. K
“Did you not hear the warning?” Miles asked rolling his eyes.“I remember we went left. There were more yellow roses on the left. That was where we went,” Angela said running to the left side. The others followed her. They found the door after some seconds of walking. Angela was proud of herself. Miles was too.Nothing could now go wrong in opening the door. They opened it and walked inside. Their loud steps echoed silently. They first thought there were more than four people in the hallway but they came to realize their steps were echoing. After some minutes of walking, they were now in the training room. They clapped for themselves on a job well done.“Wonderful,” Leila said clapping slowly.“Okay, we are here now. What is our first lesson of the day?” Angela asked half ready for a day of miserable training.“We are going to learn how to pass t
“Lies?” Angela asked feeling fingers on her hand.Angela turned to her hand on the ground and saw Miles placing his hand on hers. She wasn’t sure whether he was doing it to comfort himself or her.“You do not need to meet my sister but instead you need to go to the spirit world.”Kale hiccupped loudly hearing her words. The hiccup made her spit all the food in her mouth.“Did you say the spirit world?”“Yes.”“But why do we need to go to the twenties when we can find the spirit world here?” Miles was getting feverish. The work he did took great power. It was not something a normal human could do without fainting.“The world there is evil. There is no spirit world here but there is in the twenties. Their evil is so high and much that they made the spirit world by themselves.”“Is that world so evil?” Angela as
“Where to first?” Kale asked rubbing her hands to generate heat into her body.Angela brought out her compass. Just in case.“Let us go anywhere.” Miles pointed at a direction that they decided to follow. They walked, looking at the scene, waiting to see something. There was something different about Angela that Miles could point out. She was not as timid as before. She was no more hesitant to see new places; she wasn’t hesitant before anyway. She was more daring to do things that weren’t what she would typically do. She was less gentle and more…so many things were different about her.He was more than surprised today when she said she wanted to see Persimmon. She was mostly the quiet, gentle, and shy girl. Now she was changing but it didn’t change how he felt about her. Sincerely he liked her better this way.“There is a river up
Angela ran into the fog. Out of thoughtlessness, Miles went into the fog with her. Kale ran inside freeing herself from Justin’s grip.In the end, Justin had no choice but to join them by entering the fog. They could see nothing inside only white fog but they were sighting unusual things. They were seeing gold glitter and fluttering of wings.Their suspicions grew when they heard mischievous giggling and muffled voices. They couldn’t see or get to each other which made it worse. They needed to find each other or they might be lost in the fog forever because it looked like the fog had no end.Angela kept stumbling and falling on something. She would keep tripping on stones and something else she did not understand. Sometimes Angela felt like laying on the floor forever because she was tired of getting up and falling again but she did not give up.Angela came up with an idea to get her crew
“We have been practicing for days…” We? Alex thought scoffing. He was the only one practicing. His mother would sit on her throne, eating cherries while he would work his head off to get his training right. “…now it is time.” Octavia and the dwarf stood up.They walked up to him. The dwarf had a great hunchback that was hideous to look at.“We will give you a carriage and you will go to the tower alone. There you will shout Leila ten times. Once that is done she will appear but first.” The dwarf walked closer to him and gave him a small trinket that had a tiny orange pendant. Alex looked at the trinket, carefully studying the features. “That orange diamond belonged to the cinnamon witch. None of her powers can have an effect on you as long as you keep it on but make sure she does not see it. Her mind-reading power will not work on you too.”“But will the cinnamon witch
Because of that Kale, Justin and Miles carried the name of bandits from the original bandits.Miles checked on Justin and Kale. Their parents knew Miles and Miles' parents knew them. That was how it started.Miles didn't believe he forgot. He was sure Kale and Justin wouldn't remember. He smiled at the thought of it.When Leila had recovered, she cleared her throat and turned to them.“That song? Where did you hear it from?”Angela did not know how to answer the question but she did know something about it.“I do not know. I have always been humming the beat but never in my life have I known the lyrics and today it came to me.”“So you have never heard the song before.” Angela nodded. “That does not make sense, there must be a source. Did you make it up?”Angela laughed at Leila’s comment but she cut her laughter sharply. Her laughing could make
“A p-portal?” Alex asked confused. What did a portal have to do in the discussion they were having?“Angela and the bandits have been training to enter a portal for two days.” Actually two weeks. “You are ready to enter a portal.”“A portal to where?” Alex asked anxiously. He was tired of standing. He needed to rest his body and get some sleep too but he was confused for a moment. When he was in the tower it was late afternoon and when he got to Persimmon it was late at night.“Remember, a day in Persimmon is a week in the real world. There will also be a time difference. You need to rest. Let me take you to your room.”“But what about my question?” He was eager to know.“I will answer it on the way.” Leila began to move and Alex followed. “Did your mother tell you why she wanted to kill them?”He didn't rem
