Armando cleared his throat, and held my gaze. The anger dissipated from his eyes, some other emotion took over.

He took one of my hand and squeezed. “You scared me, Lucy. Last night I had thought I was going to lose another mate. I couldn't take you to the hospital to avoid police report and all , I had to call Danielle as soon as I got home, it was late into the night. So she came and she has been here treating you all night long. You sustained a lot of injuries…” He paused.

This was hard for him. He had been scared, it was obvious, judging from the expression on his face.

“You were not moving. You were bleeding everywhere, you even had a gun wound on your leg and stomach.”

“My stomach? What?” I pulled down the bed cover to touch my stomach and winced. It was bandaged too. “I thought they…oh, I remember now.”
