CHAPTER ELEVEN

Hearing his word made me realize how much of an asshole he really is. He’s not the June I imagined him to be. I was so blinded by love that even his flaws became perfect to me and I ignored the red flags before thinking that he’s just an imperfect human being that loves me too.

I went on my knees to look at June’s eyes.

“You’re not the man I love.”

“After a year you’re going to have a change of heart? We promise each other!” He cried out.

“You probably love me because of my money, right?”

“Freya, t-that’s not it!  I love you, honestly-“

A slap landed on his face again.

“Leave,” I stood up, “You’re not welcome here or in my life anymore.” With that, I opened the door and went outside. I waited for him to get out before closing it.

“Freya…” He called lovingly. It made my heart sting in pain again. How could he sound so sweet despite the things he has done?

I want to shout at him. To question him why he pushed me off that rooftop. To ask his real intentions. But that would sound like I’m crazy.

Instead of saying angry things that could make this fight longer, I just told him five words that he should be doing in the first place.

“Take care of your wife,” I stated.

He cried. He attempted to hug me but two pairs of hands stopped him by grabbing his shoulders. It was none other than Gin.

“Leave,” scowled Gin.

I was so used to seeing him being playful that I got scared because of how serious he looked. The thunder outside drummed again.

“Bastard.” He mumbled before turning his back on us. When I finally saw his body out of sight, I finally fell on my knees. My hands are shaking and the tears I was holding back ever since earlier is now gushing out of my eyes. I cried loud along with the rain outside.

Gin put his one knee on the floor to level with me, “It’s alright. You did great,” He comforted.

I couldn’t answer him. I couldn’t say a word. My whole heart wanted to pour out the pain that I was carrying ever since I was brought back to the past.

“You look ugly,” He chuckled before pulling my head to his chest.

I didn’t bother to counter his nonsense teasing and continued to sob on his chest.

June was the man of my dreams, the man I prioritize over everything, the person that I want to spend my lifetime with. He made me realize how wonderful it is to be in love, but in the end, he was also the one who made me taste the opposite of a happy ending.

I was mindless. I gave him everything without a single doubt.

It hurts so much…

Honestly, there is a part of me that expected us to be happy in this timeline. That part was also silently blaming me as to why June acted that way in the past; Maybe I did something wrong? Maybe I just need to improve?

But I know that voice is nothing but the hopeless feeling I have deep down my core.

The feeling of longing,

It will only hurt more if I keep on holding on. I need to let him go to move away from the tragic past.

“His wife would be happy…” I trailed off.

A wife…

The role I was going to play with June in the past timeline. The one I dreamt of the most.

Then I realized, does he also have a wife before? He must have it too right?

Then how about Navia? What about what he said about him liking her? But Navia has a fiancée, right?

I groaned.

“Done?” The bubbly voice of Gin took me back to reality. He lets go and brushed my wet eyes with his calloused hands, “That would be 1,000 pesos.”

“What?”

“Comfort fee, hun,” laughed Gin.

I glared at him, “You even suck at comforting.”

“Well, what do you want to do then? Ice cream? N*****x and Chill? Someone to drink with?” He helped me in getting up while displaying his vexing smile.

Argh, this man is so…

“Whatever, Whinston,” I withdrew my hands from him and stomped away. He’s unbelievable.

“Well madam,” He jogged next to me, “I can be whoever you want. As long as you can give me money.”

“You sound like a prostitute.”

“We all are,” He stated.

“How so?” I asked without glancing at him but I can see his smirk on my peripheral vision.

“We sell our body every day. Me, you - when one works for money using their mind,” He pointed his head, “Heart,” He pointed his left chest, “Or your whole part,” He signed his two hands to create a big circle, “You’re selling your body for money.” He continued.

“Do you support that?”

“The ‘prostitute’ prostitute or the other prostitute?”

I shrugged.

“Well, I support both.” He answered his own question, “Anyways, what do you wanna talk about?”

I stopped walking. Two maids passed by and gave us a bow. When I saw that they walked far away enough, looked at him and crossed my hands between my chest.

“I got pushed yesterday night by someone.”

“Your sister?”

“What? No. It was so sudden that I didn’t get to take a look at them.”

“So what do you want to do?”

I came closer to him and leaned in.

“Are we… Gonna kiss now?” He tempts.

I rolled my eyes. His remarks always make me roll my eyes.

“Shut up and listen closely, idiot.”

I whispered everything that needs to be done with him.

“Wow, you sound like someone who didn’t get broken hearted a while ago,” playfully exclaimed Gin after hearing my strategy.

“What does that mean?”

“You sounded smart for the first time.”

“Do I sound stupid to you all this time?” I scoff loudly and hit his head.
