Chapter SIXTEEN

“A date? Did you hit your head or something?” I asked in disbelief.

He chuckled. “Come on, you're acting as if I'm not a sweet person.” He turned in a corner. “Plus, we're a team. I need to know the whole plan, your enemies, your doubts,” he continued.

I crossed my arms in my chest and stared blankly at the man driving while wearing a smug look.

“Why so?” I questioned his skanky ass. For some reason, he's a little more energetic today.

“Stop pouting.” He reached out and pinched my nose gently. I slapped his hands away and glared but he just laughed and shrugged it off.

I rolled my eyes, looks at the window and sighed. Should I continue entertaining my hatred towards my sister and my ex-boyfriend who killed me in the past? The thing is, they're different now and it's understandable since I'm the only one who knows what happened. But... the things that are occurring is making me falter.

It's obviously not the same before. Sure there are other similar things that I can keep track on, but the majority have changed.

I peeked at Gin who was driving seriously.

He and I are never acquainted with each other in the past, but I have changed that now. He's smart and popular. Plus my sister likes him? According to what he said of course, I'm still not sure about that.

I can't trust anyone. I can't depend on Gin everytime, but I'll use every inch of my resources to find the truth.

I don't care about the past anymore. I'm here right now, and what I need to do is to find the truth. I'm sure my sister doesn't hate me just because I'm a little spoiled by my dad, or I have a boyfriend or I took away Gin whom she likes.

There must be a deeper person.

I bit my lower lip and put my palm on my forehead. Everything is stressing me out.

Who the hell was that green-eyed person? What does he want from me? Did I do something that made him hate me too?

What did I do to be in this kind of situation?

“Hey...”

I almost shrieked in shock when a pair of hands landed on my lap. I quickly looked at Gin who's also looking at me.

“I've been calling you many times. What are you thinking to be so deep in thought?”

I grabbed his hands and put it away. “I'll tell you later on, if you tell me everything.” I'm sure of it. He knows something.

He tore his gaze away and opened the car door. Then went to my side to open it too. He reached out his hands but I just ignored it and went on my own.

When I went outside, I saw a lot of people swarming everywhere. And then a memory came to my mind, but it wasn't clear.

The weather is warm, but not burning hot. It's a little windy too. People are busy everywhere you look.

Feels like... I've been here before.

“Where are we?”

“Public market.”

A public market? What's that?

I was about to ask him about it but a loud voice interrupted our talk.

“Balot! Balot!” A guy wearing a casual attire, carring a wood on his shoulder who have two baskets in every ends of it shouted.

He was close so we can clearly hear how loud his voice can be. Gin grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer to him.

“Wanna try it?” He whispered.

I honestly don't know where this place is, or what he's trying to do but curiousity is eating me. This is a strange place, and even though it's the first time I was here, it kinda feels like home.

Well I honestly don't know how to explain this kind of feeling.

“Try what?” I asked without looking at the man beside me.

People are looking at us, maybe because Gin is wearing a very formal attire — a little too formal to be exact.

“Balot.”

Before I could give him my answer, the balot guy walked towards us with a delightful smile.

“Hi, ma'am, sir, do you want balot?”

I almsot chuckled at how funny he speaks. He have a weird accent, though I find it entertaining.

“Two please.” Gin raised his two fingers them he fished out his wallet from his pocket. “Do you want yours to be spicy?”

I shook my head. “I'm not good at spices,” I answered honestly.

The balot man's smile grew wider. He puts down the baskets and opened the other one. Took out eggs and put it in a paper bag.

While Gin and the man had a little conversation, I looked around. There are a lot of food on stall. Fresh seafoods, vegetables, fruits and other things. There are a lot of stalls everywhere while the other vendors are on the cement.

“Did I come here before?” I mumbled to myself unconsciously.

There's a memory that keeps on popping in my mind but it's a little fuzzy. I can't remember it clearly.

That would be weird if I really came here, cause I never remembered something about this place in my past life.

Or did I forget some stuffs?

“Here.” My thoughts got cut off when Gin's hands that's holding the egg appeared in front of my face. “Eat,” he demanded.

I rolled my eyes. “Alright, fine.” I accepted it and gently hammered it in the car. Luckily it broke.

I can hear Gin snickering beside me but I just ignored him.

When I finally opened this so-called balot, I was horrified.

“Gin! Why the hell is there a dead chick in here!?” I shouted in horror.

In just a second, the egg was thrown on the ground. Gin's laughter was louder than everyone else's voice. So without hesitation, my fist landed on the back of his neck, but this didn't stopped him from laughing.

“You piece of shit!”

“Yo-You should see your face!”

”Shut up! You idiot! Why is there a dead chick on it!? Am I supposed to eat that?” I exclaimed.

He shook his head while still laughing so hard.

“Y-Yes you do— Aw aw wait— Haha!”

I grabbed his ear, opened the door car and threw him inside. He won't stop laughing. So annoying!

When I got in he spoke between his laughter.

“Gold moment.”

“Ugh. Shut up.”

“Fine.” He chuckled for the last time and held my chin to face him.

“What—”

“I'm just trying to cheer you up, darling.”

I flicked his forehead and he lets go of me. “Cheer your ass you skanky idiot. Shut up and drive.”

“Fine fine.” His voice is still mocking me so I simply kicked his feet but then again, nothing works on him.

The engine started. “Let's go home,” said Gin.

I ignored him and faced the other way. I didn't realize that I was unconsciously smiling the whole ride.
