Eight

I sat in the dark wooden hallway, tapping my foot. I hated that I had to book an appointment for this shit and hated even more he kept me waiting. I looked at my watch, rolling my eyes.

"Sorry, the commissioner is ready for you now." His blonde PA poked her head out. I smiled at her, walking into her office and opening the door of his. He was sitting at his desk, staring at his computer. His white shirt was bright, especially against his dark skin. Finally he looked up as I stood in front of his desk.

"SFO Duggan, what do I owe the pleasure?" He smiled.

"Hey dad," I breathed out.

"Sit, Lexie. How are you?" I sat down opposite him, my hands in my lap. My dad was a scary guy, always had been. We were a police family, my dad the police commissioner and my older brother Ryan was a detective constable. My dad always used to say we bled blue, however cheesy that was.
