“SHUT UP, AMELIA.”

When Harriet silenced her with a stern command, Amelia was momentarily at a loss for words. It was an something unexpected as Harriet had never before reprimanded her in such a manner.

‘Which can only mean that the effects of the drug I administered have completely worn off,’ Amelia cursed silently, her frustration mounting.

For years, she had been giving Harriet the drug, using it as a means to manipulate her. Amelia had assumed that the drug still held sway over Harriet, but now she realized that it was no longer the case.

As anger surged within Amelia, Harriet’s voice resurfaced, cutting through the tension.

“I can’t fathom how someone like you, who subjected me to drugs, who made me suffer from hunger, and who reduced me to a pitiful state for all those years, has the audacity to claim that you care for me.”

Harriet’s fists clenched tightly as she muttered, “You never cared for me, Luna Amelia.”
