Chapter 1

Ravenna's pov

Yesterday was the worst day of my life. I was supposed to go out on a date with my boyfriend Javier, the alpha king,  but then I caught him in the school's old library with my cousin Eve. He cheated on me. 

The sight I dread seeing the most, and  I'm not going to forget that dreadful sight for a long time. I thought it was a dream at first but when I made my presence known, they both acted as if nothing had happened. 

"Javier..." I called his name as I tried so hard to hold back my tears. 

They both stopped what they were doing and Javier looked at me. He didn't look like he regretted what he had just done.

"Raven?..." He acted as though he was not surprised to see me. 

"What do you want? Fuck Javier, this girl is just a killjoy." Eve muttered angrily as she pulled her skirt up, and picked her bag from the floor.

She was angry that I had disrupted them I guess.  If Eve had done any other thing to me, I would have taken it after all I was used to the way she treated me coldly as her cousin, but this! Stealing my boyfriend was out of it. It was more painful than any other thing she had done to me. 

She kissed Javier on the lips and walked towards me. 

"Bitch" she rolled her eyes at me, kicked me, and then walked past me, hitting my shoulders hard and raising her middle finger to me and then she left not after giving me a death stare. 

Javier and I were left alone and since no one was willing to speak up, I mustered courage and spoke up first

"I'm... I'm your mate. How could you do this?" I stutter and stared blankly at him expecting him to say something at least but all I got was silence. 

He wore his trousers and dressed up, then he brought out a gum from his pocket and chewed. 

"Javier!" I called again...a bit loud this time 

"Get lost!" That was all he said and I didn't even think twice before running away. 

After what he displayed there, I didn't expect him to run after me. I ran to the toilet and cried my eyes out. 

I never thought I would witness this humiliation in my lifetime. Yes, I've been humiliated and mocked several times for being the weakest omega to ever exist. But this one...this one is much worse. 

On my way home from Cresentvale College. The college I attended with Javier and Eve.  Javier and Eve walked towards me, and in front of everyone present, he rejected me. 

Someone whom I thought I would spend the rest of my numbered days with, rejected me right in front of everyone. But I shouldn't be surprised right? I'm weak...not only weak but I'm also bound to not live long. 

Everyone respected Javier in Cresentvale since he was an alpha, and that was what prevented anyone from bullying me at school. 

They would not want to mess with the alpha's girlfriend.

Before Javier and I started dating, I was treated like an outcast in Cresentvale, I was called the cursed wolf of Cresentvale until Javier took an interest in me. He treated me nicely and then we started dating. We dated for some time before I got lucky and became his mate. 

Everyone found out, and even though they still despised me and gossiped behind my back, at least the bullying stopped. 

I didn't have anything or anyone but at least I was proud that I was his girlfriend. 

I watched the both of them kiss as they both walked towards me. The person whom I thought was going to be my mate cheated on me, who knows what they'll do next? 

"You are nothing to me Ravenna, you're no different from a weak wolf, maybe you're worse because wolves do not have the type of short lifespan you have. " He said revealing what was supposed to be kept a secret between us in front of everyone. 

Only a few people knew that I wasn't going to live long. My family and those that live close to us. 

"I reject you Ravenna !" He said coldly and the students present gasped. 

I wanted to utter a word but my words failed me. 

How could he do this to me? What have I done to him to deserve such humiliation? 

"You're of no use Ravenna. No one likes you, no one wants you, you'll never be accepted in this pack, you're an orphan. You have no one. I must have misled you into thinking that I like you very much, but who is going to like a cursed, poor orphaned omega like you? No one" He paused and turned to look at Eve. 

"How could you do this Javier? I thought you loved me. We were dating, and I'm... I'm your mate..." I managed to say.

"No, we were not. I was only using you. I never loved you,  And how can we date for just six months and you expect me to claim to you as my mate" He replied and then looked at Eve. 

"I love Eve very much. She's nothing like you. She's sexier and prettier and she's not cursed like you.  Besides I am the alpha of the pack. How do you expect my subjects to feel if I decide to choose you as the Luna? They would never accept someone like you. Eve is Very pretty and smart and would fit as the Luna of the pack. Don't you think?" 

He asked no one in particular. As he said all those words, I lowered my eyes in utmost shame. I dare not look at him or anyone. 

Eve who didn't utter a word all along walked up to me and grabbed my hair. I winced and the tears I tried so hard to stop from falling off my face betrayed me. 

"I told you, didn't I? I said you shouldn't take on what is above you. The audacity to even think the alpha Javier will accept someone like you as his mate humph". 

"You are pathetic Ravenna. You do not deserve to be one of us"

And then after saying those heartbreaking words to me, he walked away with my cousin turned my enemy,  Eve. 

That is the story of how I got rejected by the alpha king, my boyfriend. I'm Ravenna. Raven for short, is such a weird name for a weird wolf like me right? I am 24 and in a few months, this short lifespan of mine will come to an end.

When I was eighteen, I had my first rejection, and since then I accepted my fate and thought I would never find another mate but the moon goddess decided to give me another chance with the love of my life Javier and again. I got rejected. 

 I am the weakest omega of the Cresentvale pack. I'm not only poor, I'm also an orphan. And worst of all. I am cursed. In my lineage, women are known to be born with a mark of the full moon, this mark was known as a curse, I don't know about it but from what I've heard, no woman in my lineage who has that mark has ever lived past the age of fifty. My mother died immediately after I was born and it was assumed that the curse had been broken since she has the mark, and still died so early but then they were surprised to find the mark on my neck, only that this time it was the shape of a half moon. 

Most people avoided having to do anything with women in my family, they do not want to be associated with cursed wolves. So it was difficult to find a mate. 

They saw it as unlucky to marry a girl from my family. My mother has two brothers, one of whom I live with now. Eve's father.  My mother was lucky to find someone who claimed her. She gave birth to a son first, my brother whom I've never set my eyes on and when she gave birth to me and died, my father left with my brother. 

It seemed as if he disappeared from the face of the earth because no one has seen him since then and no one knows where he went with my brother. So everyone assumed he was dead. 

The little talks and murmurs began immediately after Eve and Javier left. I shouldn't be surprised right?, I expected it anyways. 

"If I was the one, I would have killed myself"

"Oh, she's so shameless. I can never associate myself with somebody like her. She looks so weak"

"Why didn't the alpha just banish her already?."

"Eve's father should throw her out already"

The talks went on and on and some of them even went as far as throwing sticks and small stones at me and I just had to leave for my safety. 

I walked alone on the quiet road that led to my uncle's house – where I reside currently. 

I only pray not to meet them at home because it would be chaotic and I might be forced to run away then. 

My uncle never treated me nicely, I was treated like a maid in his house. His wife treated me like an outcast and the kids were worst. I just can't explain it. Who would believe I had a rich gamma uncle? No one! While my uncle and his family lived in a big mansion, I stayed in a shed at the back of the house. 

"Hey, baby.." Kali's voice jolted me from my deep thinking. If there's any voice I want to hear right now, it's hers. 

She didn't even think twice before engulfing me in a tight hug. 

Kali was my childhood best friend. I met her when I was five. I was simply tired of everything and I went to a cliff to clear my head but she thought I wanted to jump when she dragged me back. She dragged me off that cliff, and I explained everything to her, I also assured her that I wasn't going to jump and that was how we became friends. Her parents were nobles in the pack. Her father, a gamma, and her mother was a delta, they were very powerful and well-respected people In the pack. 

They've tried everything to stop her from associating with me but she was just too persistent to leave me alone. 

"Those bastards. What did they do to you?" She muttered while I simply kept quiet and cried in her chest. 

She must have heard about what happened. The news must have spread around the pack.

 

"I heard about what happened. That girl, Eve, has no shame at all. How can she take pride In snatching her cousin's boyfriend huh? If I was there, I would have smacked her. Humph. Don't cry. I'm so sorry okay? "  She patted my back then after a while she let go of me. Then she handed the food she packaged to me. 

"I'll not be able to eat this with you. But it's delicious I promise, so enjoy it. I'll be back, I need to run an errand. " she said, and turned around and left leaving me all alone by myself again.

As I walked alone towards the pack that led to our house, I felt sad but somehow the wolf in me didn't. It was acting different...something like excitement.

The cry of the emergency howl was what woke me up from my sleep. I looked around and I noticed that it was dark already. The food Kali gave me to eat was left untouched and my diary which I had poured out my heart and tears to was opened. I remembered I was writing something in it when I slept off

The howl sounded again, a little loud this time. 

What is going on? This alarm is usually used only when there is an emergency or when the pack is under attack. 

Usually when there's a howl like that the whole pack is expected to gather in a particular place. 

What is going on? I panicked as I got up from my small bed ready to dash outside when suddenly the door to my small shed, where I usually slept was opened and someone barged in. The person was in his wolf form and he was badly injured, blood dripped down from the side of his belly. I gasped, and not knowing what to do, I screamed but then he was quick to shut me up by covering my mouth with its hairy palm. 

He looks different from how a normal werewolf would look when they shapeshift. He looks like an... What? An alpha? Is Cresentvale under attack? 

What is the alpha of another pack doing here?

 

"Say a word and I'll kill you right here without anyone knowing" he threatened and I was forced to keep quiet. 

"Sit there and sit still, don't do anything" he ordered

I obeyed and did as he commanded. 

He scattered my small room, as though he was looking frantically for something, the wound was deep and the blood gushing out of his belly didn't stop.

 I had so many thoughts and questions in my head right now. 

Am I going to die here today? 

Outside, I could hear footsteps of werewolves running to gather at the usual place where we usually gathered when there was an emergency.
