Chapter 63 - Mother's Questions

Lance POV

I could stand facing my fiercest enemy and never shake or fear them like I am now looking at my mate’s mother. The disapproving look in her eyes rocks me to my core.

I take a shaky breath. “Uhm, what questions do you have for me? First, though, I want to apologize for not coming to you and Alpha Edward as soon as we’ve figured out we were mates. I had been talking with the Alpha and had gone to your pack for the investigation, but I had said nothing. I apologize for not following proper etiquette. Please, forgive me.”

In a softer tone, I add, “My father decided it was best to keep it hidden until the culprit was captured. I was just following orders.”

My heart pounds in my chest as I glance to the side of my bed. She shifts slightly in the chair and presses her lips together, but she remains silent, which speaks louder than actual words.
