What do you think? Is there someone else above Drake and his father leading everything, or is it smoke? How about the nurse. Can she be trusted or not?
Trinity POVWe’ve discovered another piece of the puzzle thanks to my pregnancy and extremely sensitive nose. Unfortunately, I don’t know where the foul smell has come from, but there is a good chance the others working with Drake and his father will have the same nasty scent, too. Unlike the King, I don’t think Drake and his father are working for someone else. They have too much pride and an extremely large ego which would prevent them from taking orders from someone else, no matter who the person is. I stare across the desk at my mother. “Do you think you have discovered all the moles? Or are there more?”She shakes her head. “I’m not sure. We will find out soon. Did Lance tell you whether the King has found many in his pack? The lycans seem like they are very loyal, but this shows not everything that looks perfect is.”A small frown etches into my face. “True. I’m hoping there are none, but I know that isn’t correct. My only hope now is the King has found them all and
Trinity POVGrabbing a towel off a nearby supple cart, I press it against my hand and sit down beside my brother. My heart aches looking at his broken body and the blood-stained bandages. Guilt engulfs me for not getting here sooner. Unfortunately, I had needed to handle the business side of things before I could sneak off to visit him and my father. My injured hand grips the towel while my other hand lightly touches the scratches along the side of Trent’s face as I whisper, “Hey, bro. I’m here, but I can’t stay long. Rely on your alpha blood flowing through you and gather your strength to fight this. I know you can do it. I have faith.” My heart twists and tears well up in my eyes. He shouldn’t be injured like this. Why was he in the meeting hall? I shake my head and push the question out of my mind. He did nothing wrong. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time, nothing more. I take a shaky breath and brush his messy bangs off to the side. A trail of red blood sme
Trinity POVRumors spread around the bunker like wildfire, but the stories are stretched so far from the truth. They are barely recognizable are no longer remotely close to reality. Luckily, the incident is speculation and so is my identity. I’m not taking anything for granted, though. The last thing we need when we are locked in the bunker together is to send people into a panic or shock from seeing me. It is best for everyone to not know anything yet. We have enough to deal with and don’t need anymore. I pull my hoodie farther over my head, making sure no one can see who I am. A flurry of whispers and murmurs follow me as I hurry through the bunker towards my mother’s office. Once inside, I shut the door and pull the hood off my head. “Tell me you have some good news, or maybe you’ve captured all the spies.” She shakes her head and points towards the chair in front of the desk. “No. Have a seat.” She looks behind me. “Isn’t Lance coming with you?”My eyebrows f
Trinity POVMy heart races as I stare down at my brother. His coloring is slightly better and not as pale. Is this the sign we have been hoping for? Is he going to make a full recovery now?Next to me, my mother shakes her head. “I don’t understand. The report I had yesterday said nothing about him getting better. What happened? Have you changed his treatment or something?”The couple of medical staff and the doctor on the other side of the bed look at each other and then over to my father before the doctor turns back towards us. “We can’t explain it. There is no plausible reason for his improved health. It is so strange.”From the bed behind us, my father grunts, “But my son is improving. That is the important part.”I can’t argue with him, and I’m glad my brother is recovering, but it is so odd. When I was here, he didn’t look this good. My heart ached seeing him so broken. Then something comes to mind, and I let out a small gasp. No. It can’t be. Lance looks over hi
Drake POVA loud sinister laugh rolls down the dimly light hall and sends a chill down my spine. Who is there? I have just looked and didn’t see anyone. I swallow the lump in my throat and grunt, “Who is there? Show yourself.”Another round of laughter breaks out, igniting anger within me. Who do they think they are? When I get out of here, they will learn a lesson which I will be more than happy to give them. Then they will learn who is in charge and powerful. A deep voice I don’t recognize retorts. “You will never get out of here. Don’t bother thinking about it.”I shake my head. He doesn’t know that. My father bangs against his metal bars. “We will get out of here, and you will be the first person we will find to show you how it can be done. Your security system and prison aren’t perfect. There is a way to break out and gain our freedom. Watch us.”The determination in my father’s voice doesn’t allow for any doubt in the validity of his words, and it gives me the ad
Trinity POV My stomach sinks and my heart pounds as a stray wolf tackles Lance and knocks him to the ground. The wolf is smaller than my mate and doesn’t stand a chance against him, but the brown wolf isn’t giving up. Knowing Lance can handle the little wolf, I turn my focus back onto the leader. Blood oozes out various deep gashes on his side, but it doesn’t seem to deter him as he gets back up. Our gazes lock and anger instantly courses through my veins. I don’t care he isn’t responsible for my father and brother’s conditions. He is leading another attack on my family’s pack, and I won’t stand for it. I take a deep breath and let my alpha side take hold of me. With my alpha voice, I pour all my anger and frustration into a roar, which knocks the large gray wolf back a few steps. Confusion mixes with his determination, but soon fades when something clicks in his eyes. With a slight smirk, another loud growl explodes from me and pushes him back a few more steps. My con
Trinity POV“UGH!!” My mouth falls open while pain shoots through my side. Warm blood pours down my side as I grasp for air, and my lungs burn while my body stands frozen in place. Sounds of battle swirl around me, but nothing registers, except for the overpowering smell of blood. I retract my claws from the leader, and he collapses to the ground.Lance spins around towards me. Fear shines bright in his eyes. “Trinity! What’s wrong?”I open my mouth farther, but nothing comes out. His eyes frantically look around, searching for answers and soon find them when he stops at my side. “How? We…”One of our guards jumps to my side. “Your majesty. We need to get her majesty to a doctor.”Tears well up in my eyes as I break whatever curse has taken control of me and whimper, “The baby.”Lance’s eye glisten with a fire suddenly burning within them. The few guards beside us gasps. This can’t be happening. I’ve been so careful. There have been so many guards around me. No one s
Alpha Edward POVI shift around on the hospital bed, not able to find a comfortable position, while my mind races. Something is off, but what? My mind fills with various things, but none of them seems like the right answer. I glance beside me at Trent’s bed, and I’m filled with a small sense of relief. He is looking better today, and his color is almost back to normal. I wish I knew what has helped him recover so fast. The doctors agree it isn’t because of their treatment. They have changed nothing. The sound of chaos and frantic footsteps pulls my attention to the open door at the other end of the room as my heartbeat quickens. A sense of dread takes hold of me. Oh, no. Did the intruders get into the bunker? Why am I not hearing anything about it? Struggling, I slowly push myself up and rest my back on the headboard while my eyes stay glued to the door. If the intruders have breached the secure doors, I need to find something to defend myself and everyone in here else w
