With a slight frown on my face, I gently slide my hand under Bethany’s hand and caress the back of it. “The King and his guards have captured the idiot who did this to you. You don’t need to worry about him now. When you wake up, I’ll tell you all about it, and how I punched him a couple of times. I know he is your mate, but he doesn’t deserve you. If I could, I would ask the moon goddess to give you someone else. I can only imagine what he has done to you over the years for you to go along with his evil plan. I could have helped you if you had told me.”

My heart aches as I fill up with regret and guilt. I should have recognized something was going on with her, but I didn’t. I was too focused on doing what my father was telling me and getting the alpha title that I didn’t realize my best friend was in pain and hurting.

I slide my thumb along the back of her hand. “I will pay more attention. I promise. You need to fight as hard as you can and come back to me.
