Axton’s P.O.V
I heard Anika’s head fall back on to the ground and knew that she fallen unconscious probably because of fear rather than her injuries. I could scent blood on her and it made me anxious to find out exactly how hurt she was, but I had to wait. There was a bigger problem in front of me.
It was then that I turned into my human form and looked directly at the intruder wolf, taking a protective stance in front of Anika. If the wolf was out for blood, it would have to go through me first.
“Who are you?” I growled deep in my throat, standing guard over Anika’s unconscious form. “Show yourself!”
I knew every member of my pack by their very own unique scents, but this was no packmate. This was a wolf from another pack, probably an enemy. And even though my old pack was no longer my responsibility, I wasn’t going to let it hurt Anika. If I had arrived only a few seconds later, the
Anika’s P.O.VI woke up with a start, feeling my lungs constricting, my heart pounding against my ribcage.“Wh-where…” I looked around in a state of panic, trying to figure out where I was or how I was even alive.“Hey…Anika,” I felt a hand on mine and Raaz’s soft voice from beside me and felt the panic subside almost immediately.I looked beside me then, to find him sitting next to the bed, on the floor and holding my hand. His green eyes were darker than usual and they were filled with worry as he reached out to me with a wet towel and wiped at my forehead. The cool cloth brought me instant relief, just as I slowly came to the realization that I was now inside my cabin house, on my bed.“Raaz?” I asked, swallowing hard as I felt my throat dry up.“Here,” he reached for the bedside table and held a glass of water to my lips. “Drink slowly. You&r
Anika’s P.O.VI grit my teeth as I saw Steven Hallow’s smug smile from across the table. But he wasn’t my main concern as of this moment. The disciplinary board today consisted of the Chief of Surgery, Steven Hallow, some of our best surgeons, Dr. Willow Slogan and Dr. Raymond Desmond, the Senior Consultant, Dr. Madhu Prabhas and the CEO of New York City Hospital, Dr. Max Nosek.“Dr. Anika Mehta, I hope you are aware of why we are holding this meeting today?” Dr. Nosek raised his eyebrows at me, making me nervous all over again. But I wasn’t here to back down. So I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook my head. “I’m sorry, ladies and gentlemen.” I addressed everyone with a polite smile. “But I am completely unaware of why this disciplinary committee was called. As far as I remember…I hadn't done anything that would require disciplinary action.”“You
Anika’s P.O.V“D-delete that!” Steven struggled to get up from the floor as he stared at Gustav with his eyes as wide as saucers. “Delete that…now!”“Oh, this?” Gustav placed his phone inside his jacket pocket. “Nah! I don’t think I will. Unless, of course, you’re offering to suck my dick.”Steven gagged upon hearing that and back up further into a corner. But Gustav wasn’t done yet. He knelt in front of Steven with a menacing smile. “I almost forgot to introduce myself. I’m Sherriff Gustav Bernard, from the Sapphire Mountain PD.”That was all Steven needed to know as all the fight left his body and he looked up at Gustav in horror. “Now, be a good boy and pack your stuff, will you? I don’t think this hospital will be needing your services anymore.”“P-please…” Steven managed to stutter out.&
Axton’s P.O.V I looked down at the open trash can and the bowl of noodles in my hand, debating if I was doing the right thing. In the end, I placed the bowl back inside the fridge instead of throwing it out. “Fuck!” What the fuck had gotten into me? That kiss was nothing significant to fuss over? And now that she didn’t eat the meal I prepared for her, I was planning on throwing away the noodles I made for her this morning? Seriously, I was acting like an angry teenager who lives rent free at their parent’s house and yet feel like all the world’s suffering is insignificant next to theirs! There was no use in denying the fact that the kiss yesterday morning had made me feel things that I wasn’t supposed to feel, especially science it had only been days since Lily died. But the mating bond was hella strong…stronger than I had imagined it to be despite the fact that my mate was human. Was this how my father had felt when he let g
Anika’s P.O.VShutting off my engine, I took a deep breath and leaned back against my seat, as I stared at my cabin.Raaz was probably asleep, considering that it was past ten at night. Or he probably didn’t care that I was late?I shook my head at my foolishness. Why was I trying to avoid going inside my own cabin? Just because of a stranger’s judgment? Just because of one little mistake? My mind was a mess and I was stressing out and that too, over a man I had known for what? Four days now?But tonight, while having dinner with Gustav, I realized something about me and Raaz that I hadn't realized before. And it was an eye opening realization. The day I came to the Sapphire Mountains, my life was in shambles. Everything that I had been living with, my believes, my family, the people I trusted…they had all let me down in one fell swoop and they weren’t even the least bit sorry about what they d
Anika’s P.O.V I took in the light pink blouse and dark blue denims that I had put on in the mirror, debating if I should change into a white shirt instead to go with the moss green jacket I was planning on wearing on top. It was finally the night that I would get to meet my savior; the mysterious woman who had saved my life from that hungry-looking wolf. So far, I had no idea who she was or how she looked, but Axton says she invited both of us to dinner this evening. It was a bit strange that a woman who saved my life was asking me to join her for dinner except for it being the other way around, but I guess some people like things a specific way?... if that even makes sense. On the other hand, I was still getting used to calling Raaz as Axton. Not that I was used to calling him Raaz for long, but in some way, him getting his memories back meant that it wouldn’t be long before him and I go our separate ways. ‘What are you?’
Axton’s P.O.V Sabrina had tried her best to grab my attention. From the décor to the food and the way she was dressed. Everything had only one intension…to seduce me. I could see it in the way her lips tilted up; the way her eyes roamed my form hungrily and the way her breasts strained against the fabric of her dress. She was still in heat and she seemed to have chosen me as her target. The problem here was, I was still unmated and the close proximity between us was making my wolf agitated as well. If I had mated Anika, or if my wolf had formed a mental bond with her wolf, then another wolf’s heat wouldn’t have bothered us. But Anika was human and I had chosen not to give into the temptation of the bond between us, so my wolf was now scratching at me, trying to get close to Sabrina. “Oh? Then can I have him?” That question had taken me just as off-guard as it had taken Anika and now that she rushed to the washroom to fix her d
Anika’s P.O.V I ran. It was the only thing I could do after what I had witnessed. I ran… I ran blindly. My heart pounded against my chest as I made my way down the hallways, trying to find my way in this maze of a mansion. Finally, I saw a painting that looked familiar, one that I had seen when I had entered the house and I took the turn, following down that hallway. With how my brain felt jumbled, my thoughts clogged…I was lucky that I could even vaguely remember how I got in. Finally…after what felt like an eternity later, I found the huge mahogany double doors with engravings on it that I entered the mansion through. Pushing on the doors that seemed immobile, I used all my strength to push open one side and then I was out the front door and into the cold night air that made goosebumps appear all over my body. I bent down to place my hands on my knees, taking in deep gulps of air as my lungs threatened to collapse. “
