“Sophia?” I looked up, shocked, but she didn't look surprised to see me.

I haven't heard from her in three years, she just disappeared in thin air.

“Let's go, baby,” she said, turning to the little girl.

“I did not yet get my ice cream,” the little girl complained.

"Well, I said there's no money for ice cream,” she was a bit hush.

“Mommy! This beautiful woman offered to pay for it, right, Aunty?” The little girl didn't know what was happening, so I bent, faked a smile, and nodded.

"Yes, my love.”

“And what happened to not taking things from strangers?”

“Mommy..”

“Enough, now let's go.” She held the little girl's arm and dragged her away. My heart was in pain as I stared in their direction.

“Jessie?” Loren shook me and I broke out of my stare.

“Did you see that?” I asked, and she looked clueless.

“See what?”

“Sophia… Um, never mind, I have to go now, I'll see you later,” I said, quickly rushing.

“Jess!” she yelled, but I was already back in my car.
