CHAPTER TWENTY-FIVE

ALISTAIR’S POV

“How are you feeling, sir Alistair?” The doctor asked while the nurses pulled out the syringe from my arm.

I flashed him a reassuring smile, and he reciprocated the gesture before tapping on a pad in his hand. Glancing around the room, an hour had passed since I woke up, and there was still no sign of Chloe returning from wherever she had disappeared to.

It made me wonder where she had been to and why.

“What about her?” I asked as I couldn’t hold it much longer and the doctor stared at me with a raised brow before he nodded.

“Oh, Mrs. Levon?” he asked and a subtle smile painted my lips.

Mrs. Levon – the thought of her hearing such a thing probably left her embarrassed, and the realization that she might have already caught wind of it, with me absent to witness her likely irritated reaction, fueled a strong desire to kick myself.

“I asked around and was told she had gone to see her mother.” He spoke, pulling me out of my thoughts while I nodded in understanding.
