Chapter 49

My previous good mood was disrupted when I entered Brian's brutal training. He is extremely strict and demands perfection. He will not accept to stop if he does not achieve the best results.

I lay exhausted on the grass, gasping for breath after Brian's fitness test. I had to run through two mountains and wade through three rivers to get to the finish line, but the timing wasn't satisfactory; if it weren't for my injury, Brian wouldn't have been so kind to let me rest here.

The calm wind blowing past dispelled the fatigue; I sat up, trying to calm myself. If I've only been through so many trials and accepted to give up, then I'm really as bad as Elise said.

I tilted my head to look at Brian sitting right next to me. He trained with me; if I had to cross two mountains and three rivers, so would Brian. But in him, I did not find a single point of fatigue.

He just sat quietly, enjoying the wind, with no sweat on his forehead, and his breathing was not disturbed.
