Chapter 43

SARAH

“Turn left,” I said, jabbing my fingers towards the next turn as I craned my neck forward, my eyes searching for the apartment.

We've been driving for over an hour, this was the farthest I could get from Emilio. It was also the safest since her house wasn't exactly easy to find.

Heck I think I misled the driver like three times before finally getting the right turn. The tires rolled over the stones, making a crunching sound as he came to a stop in front of her apartment.

It was a cozy little house nestled in a quiet neighborhood. This was Amanda's house. Amanda was an old friend from highschool. We weren't exactly best friends, but she was a really good friend of mine.

She was the only person I could think of as the taxi drove into town. I heaved a deep sigh of relief when I noticed that the lights were on, the bright yellowish hue that painted one of the windows was evidence that at least somebody was home.
