CHAPTER TEN

POV: SNOW WHITE

There was a time when everything had been simple. A time when things were relatively less complicated but now it felt like all that was gone forever as I struggled to wrap my mind around what Doc was saying to me.

Doc. He said they called him that even though he admitted to not being a medical professional. I was right in thinking he was the leader of the group. What baffled me was how seven men lived in such a desolate place for so long.

"How's the tea?" He asked.

I could hear the worry in his voice. He had a fatherly look of concern to go with it.

I nodded, "It's good."

It was certainly good seeing as it was probably the reason I had stopped trembling. My joints ached from exhaustion. I had stayed up all night navigating my way through the woods. It was hard to tell which hurt more; my legs or my ass.

"Oscar was– was one of you?"

"Yes. A very long time ago."

I thought about it for a minute. It explained how he was so good with weapons.

"As mercenaries?"
