CH84 - Kai's POV

I still don’t know how I missed so many signs and all of Cedric’s hints about me being his destined mate. Was that why they always said it wouldn’t be known until you were twenty? Because eighteen-year-olds were just too brash? Or was that just a problem I had?

Watching Dereck leave, I couldn’t help but feel bad. He loved me so much, but the Moon had not given me to him. I still loved him, but accepting Cedric was important to me. And I was convinced keeping all of this a secret from me must have been troublesome too, and not just because of me. Then again, Dereck scolded both of us, so it’s not like he can’t handle us simultaneously.

“He’ll be fine,” Cedric whispers into my ear before leaning down to kiss my neck. I felt a shiver run through my body at the sensation. I wasn’t sure if I could satisfy Cedric in the state I was in, even if I had healed a bit.

“I know,” I replied, suddenly real
