Chapter 3 - Not A Single Fan Of Him

Her cousin Sheena wailed and protested about how her happiness had been snatched away. While she laughed at Sheena, she went back to her bed and laid back down. She's still wearing makeup and has a headache! Wait, where's my phone?

Sheena slapped her arms, causing her to return to reality. "We're grounded, girl," she said, rolling her eyes at her.

"Have you seen my phone? I can’t find—" but stopped as she realized she had given the man her phone. She jumped out of bed and pulled her hair. Oh my! Lianne, you are such a moron!

"What? You forgot it, right? You just handed it over to Captain Zyd last night and walked out like you were in a fashion show." Her cousin teased her.

She slapped herself for being so foolish. She won't ever set foot inside a bar again. She was now traumatized. Why?

Why did she give it to him? She is not Santa Claus, jeez! While Sheena was on her phone, grinning and shivering. She can't help but look at Sheena's phone just to smooth her unkempt hair. Omg!

It's photographs of her and Zyd in the middle of the road. They looked like actors filming a kissing scene for a new movie.

"How could he kiss me? That’s not fair." She whined.

"Shit, Lianne, you're really famous by now! Your beauty is trending!" Sheena said as it opened its Twitter account, giggling. There were stolen photos that were tweeted with captions that were really damaging to her.

Her cousin was right; indeed, she is famous at the moment. It's a good thing that nobody filmed them while Zyd was kissing her on the highway. Oh my! I am such a mess.

For god's sake, she was too stunning in those stolen pictures. Argh!

She's irritated. She covered a pillow over her face and forced herself to forget the embarrassing moment.

***

IT IS SPRING season in Pennsylvania, so she wore a simple white summer dress and sneakers, then topped it with a denim jacket. She braided her hair and applied lip gloss. After only a month of living here, she was already familiar with the neighborhood, so her aunt felt at ease if she left the house.

Her plan was to look for work again today, but she decided to postpone it until tomorrow. She will just be filling her cloudy mind with good thoughts. Life can be tiring sometimes. She sat on a swing that was a little far from the shore while toting her favorite book. This strange place is making her happy. She took a few deep breaths and smiled at herself. The sun was blazing brightly, but she was shaded by a large tree and could only feel the cold wind.

She opened her book and began reading. In her right hand, she held a cup of instant coffee, which she had purchased from a nearby convenience store. She was in the middle of reading when she noticed a pair of shoes on one of the swings. She was stunned for a while and lifted her gaze to see who that person was.

Her face flushed as she realized who it was. It was just a Greek god sitting there, taking a break. The man was holding a bottle of water in his other hand and had a wet sando that made it clear that he had just finished jogging.

She immediately returned her focus to her reading. Although she wasn't interested in attractive men in Pennsylvania, she occasionally finds herself mesmerized by their good looks. She couldn't imagine what would happen if the men in the Philippines were as attractive as these men.

"Hej, du slapper det har." Hey, you dropped it.

She stared at the man as he spoke in a language she didn't understand. She saw him handing her the Pittsburgh Penguin keychain she had previously purchased. She remembered how obsessed she had been with Zyd in the past, and she had even purchased a keychain with his team's name on it. Argh! She wished she could curse Zyd! But, because she wasn't that way, she simply accepted the keychain and hid it inside her bag.

"Ar du en filipina? Och jag tror att du ar fan av Pittsburgh Penguin." Are you a filipina? It seems you're a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguin.

What?! Is this man acting on purpose? It is very obvious that she can't understand him! What if she smacks him in the face?

"Sorry?" is all she can say. She wanted to read more, regardless of how attractive this man's eyes are.

The man laughed and scratched his head. "My apologies, I thought I was still in Sweden." He said this, smiling. "So, you're a Pittsburgh Penguins fan?"

She chose not to respond, and she was not a fan of Pittsburgh. Is simply owning a keychain enough to be labeled a fan?

"Uh... Okay, I need to go! Bye!" The man walked away, but not before looking back at her and smiling again. "By the way, you're beautiful."

Lianne was left speechless by the man's words. Although she was used to receiving compliments, it still makes her shudder when a stranger does it. She stayed on the swing for about two hours before she decided to leave. Comparatively speaking to the Philippines, where there were many snatchers hiding around, she was not hesitant to wander around by herself. Not to mention the drug users.

Lianne will hunt for work again, and this time she was determined until she saw a couple arguing from a distance. She ignored it until she recognized the man—the man who wouldn't leave her mind the entire night. Pennsylvania is surprisingly small, huh? Because of this, shouldn't she have thanked God? What the hell?

Her eyes rolled.

It's a good thing he still doesn't recognize her. And, as much as she wanted to get her phone from this man, she couldn't! She was well aware of how heinous her actions were, yet she never regretted them, except for the kiss. That is something she deeply regrets.

"I'm sick of our relationship, Zyd!" The woman angrily said, and because her sense of hearing was quite impressive, she heard that.

She gave a smirk. Being tired is perfectly normal. That man is a shithole!

She was tempted to step in, but she refrained. All she did was listen to them argue with each other.

"We should talk in private, Kate—"

Again, she rolled her eyes. Screw him!

"You never return my calls, Zyd! I'm glad your best pal Kodi told me you were here!"

"C’m on! There are people here watching us. Do you really want us to argue here in front of everyone?""

"Yeah, and so what? I saw that disgusting video of you kissing someone in a bar. Who is that fucking woman?!"

Her brow furrowed as she made the decision to go and stopped paying attention to their arguments. She may become involved and is unable to stop herself from interfering. Fight you two, assholes!

Despite her urge to interfere, she simply left.
