Chapter 22

August's POV

"Are you okay? Your hand is shaking, and you haven't said much in an hour," Teresa asked in concern.

I leaned forward and grabbed a cup of coffee that was on the table. The coffee had been given to me half an hour ago, and it was now cold. I carefully moved it to my lips, and it spilled a bit.

"Mom, is he like... You know... like... not well?" her daughter asked softly.

She was leaning against the living room's door frame, looking at me with a concerned expression.

"He is fine, I think. So don't worry," Teresa answered and then quickly grabbed the cup from my hand before I could put it back.

"Hey, you are now scaring me. What seems to be the problem?" She asked softly as I frowned deeply and then leaned in without warning and kissed her lips lightly.

I was about to deepen the kiss when my wolf growled at me and took partial control, forcing me to pull back.

"Nothing," I whispered in disbelief.

I felt nothing from the kiss! How was that even possible?
