(Alphonso’s POV)
Lily had already started shopping for the decorations, so I wanted to surprise her by getting Frank's present early. She said I needed to get something big, so I decided to get him a car. More of a toy car, but a car nonetheless. Also a bike and a game someone his age could play.I felt proud of my gifts.I packed everything in the car. I was going to bring them to my study when Frank went to sleep.I got into the car, and as I started the car to drive, I got a call.“Am I speaking to Mr. Alphonso Gambino?” The man on the other end asked.“This is him,” I replied, unsure of what I was expecting to hear.“Would you come to Grayson Hospital? There is a woman here who claims to be your wife…” That was all I needed to hear.“I am on my way.” I answered and hung up.I wasn't very far from that hospital, and with how I drove, I was sure I broke every speed limit. It was a surprise that I wasn't pulled over by a cop.I walked in(Lola’s POV)I was out of cards to play, so the only other thing I could think of doing was getting rid of Lily Sharpe. I needed to have my life back, and if she was gone, then I would get to control the narrative of how everything happened.I had the knife I used on Daniel in my possession. When Michael, that bastard, turned against me, he must have pulled the knife out of Daniel’s leg and dropped it on the floor.I made sure to cover my face with a hoodie while I waited a few feet away from the company building.I also had a line of sight to Chris’ car. He, unlike Sharpe, wasn't always looking around at his surroundings. When Sharpe walked out of the building, I started to walk slowly towards her. I hid my small frame in the middle of the crowd of people who were leaving work for home.My eyes kept shifting between Sharpe and Chris; unfortunately, Chris noticed me, and I had a small window of time, so I increased my speed and got to her just in time to stab
(Alphonso’s POV)There was something that didn't sit right with me about Lily's story.Like if they were torturing her for information and she was strapped down, would they just hold her head and hands in place but not her feet?I noticed that as she was wearing her heels, she insisted on very expensive clothing as ‘she didn't want to be seen in tatters.’Most people put comfortability before style when leaving the hospital, but not Lily.“Are you sure you can walk in heels?” I asked, concerned that she was still too weak to even stabilize herself and needed me to help her get out of bed.She smiled and said, “I won't be walking much; I'll be wheeled to the doors of the hospital, and you can carry me to the car.”I thought it was interesting that she would just assume I'd carry her to the car.But a nurse walked in with a wheelchair.“Mr. Gambino,” she smiled and gave me a nod.“Hello?!” Lily called out passively, “maybe stop smiling at my husband and just get me out of this bed.”I w
(Lily’s POV)A few weeks have passed since I left the hospital. Chris had been nice to me and very supportive. My baby bump was starting to form, and I was starting to be one of those annoying women who would love to tell anyone that looked at them that I was pregnant.Chris had moved us into this small town; I doubt it could be found online, maybe on a map, and I had begun baking and selling it to the people around town.“You don't have to stay here with me; I am more than capable of taking care of myself.” I told Chris as he helped me get the freshly baked cookies out of the oven.“Why would I do that? I am enjoying life as a baker now.” He joked.I chuckled as I shook my head. “This is the life I wanted, but you don't belong here. You are a city person.”He frowned. “What does that even mean?”“It means that sooner or later, this life is going to get boring for you.” I replied honestly. He shrugged, “and until then, I'll be here to help you.” He replied, “besides you will also get
(Lola’s POV)Alphonso had been acting weird. He didn't want me sleeping in the same bed as him, so he moved me to the guest room.I was so mad at him but I decided to let it go.His reasoning was that he didn't know exactly who to trust and needed to confirm my story.I'm guessing Lily must have been a very good wife to him if he had to second-guess who his real wife was.He also wouldn't let Frank, our son, near me. I wasn't so mad about that, but considering he didn't want me in his bed, I needed a bargaining chip, and the child was it.I decided to be the mother I never was.I didn't work, so I would give Catherine the day off and go get Frank myself.“What do you want to do with mommy today?” I asked him with a smile planted on my face.He was less than five-years-old I doubt I needed to do too much to win him over. Especially if Lily was a great mother, he’ll just think I&rsq
(Lily’s POV)I had been obsessively baking and cleaning ever since I saw Alphonso on the news. I baked so much that Chris had to help me take the treats I had baked to a homeless shelter on the next town over, where I met Kay’s father working. I didn’t even know he worked there.“What brought you to these part of town?” He helped me with the box of treats I was carrying.I smiled, “I have just been a little restless of late and I had to find a way to divert that energy, so I baked.”Chris walked in behind me with another box filled with treats.Julian, Kay’s father, chuckled, “you must have had a lot of energy if you had enough to bring all the way here.”“I didn’t even know you didn’t work in the town.” I mentioned, as the three of us walked further into the homeless shelter.“I don’t really. I just volunteer here during my free time.” He smiled at me.“That’s impressive that you have the time to do this, on top of being a full time father.” Chris chimed in.Julian shrugged, “I try t
Lola’s POVI was pacing around the guest room as I tried to figure out a way in which I could still gain the upper hand.My attempt to try and scare Alphonso into accepting the fact that I was pregnant after I announced it to the public had backfired.I was paranoid and rarely left the house in the fear that Daniel was going to track me down and try to do something to me after what I had done to him. But then a thought came to mind: what if I got the upper hand and went to him before he came to find me?Just because Alphonso didn’t feel he had anything to lose that wasn’t the case for Daniel. He was married and I was sure he knew I was crazy enough to do something to his wife.I grabbed my phone and tried to search for his name.I smirked when it came up: “That was easy.” I said to myself as I grabbed my bag to get out of the house.I opened the door, and Frank came running to me, “Mom, can we spend the day together?” His small frame hugging me around my knees, almost made me fall ove
Alphonso’s POVIt had been a few months since I had last seen Lily, and I was pushing the PI I had hired into finding her.By pushing I meant asking for updates every day, even when he clearly didn’t even have anything to tell me.There he was in my office, still with nothing to report.“What do you mean you can’t find her?” I snapped as I slammed my fist on my desk.I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself.“She obviously didn’t just disappear into thin air, especially considering that she was hurt.”“I have looked everywhere. All hospitals close to this building and even extended the search to hospitals all over the city, but none of them have a record of her being admitted in there.” The PI stated, “Maybe we should consider that she might not have survived.”“Get out of my office.” I cut the man off, and said in a very calm tone, and he gathered his things and walked out without another word.He clearly was starting to think that I was unhinged. Maybe I was.I hired him to fin
Lily’s POVAfter what happened with Alphonso, I wasn’t sure that I was ready to become close with someone else, especially not when I was pregnant with someone else’s child.“I hope you don’t think this is something more than friendship,” I blurted out seemingly out of nowhere at Julian. He frowned and then chuckled, but when I didn’t laugh along with him, his smile dropped and he became serious. “I hope that I haven’t really given you the wrong impression of me,” he stated. “My daughter just never stops talking about you, and I thought it would make her happy if you and I got to know each other, but if that’s not okay with you, I could take a step back.”I mentally face-palmed myself, so much for setting boundaries and making a perfectly good situation awkward.“No, you aren’t,” I chimed in quickly in an effort to make the situation less embarrassing on my end. “I just didn’t want to seem like I was giving off the wrong impression or coming off in a way that made you think that I…”
