"It's what I've wanted to do in weeks, sweetness." I groaned, placing a kiss on her forehead.

Then, I faced forward and started the ignition. "We're going to the house. We need to talk, Anya."

I expected a protest but she didn't say a word. All through the ride home was filled with tense silence.

Finally, I pulled into my driveway and into the battery-operated gate. I parked the car in the garage and got out. Anya was already out and walking towards the front door.

In the house, she dripped her bag on the sofa and flung herself to it. "Where's Uncle Mark?" Her eyes searched around as she asked.
