**THE BATTLEGROUND**
Even as Atlas worries about Scarlett, he still has to find a way to keep fighting. He returns to the school, to find most of their men dead. The Storm Pack wolves look happy and victorious as they slay, destroy and maim the wolves of Scarlett's pack. Atlas feels downcast and broken. For the first time in forever, he feels himself about to break down. Way too much had happened back to back with him. He had it all one moment, with Scarlett in his arms, riding his face and letting him touch her. And before anyone could even finish saying "Jack Robinson", everything had come crumbling.
Scarlett's cousins were all dead, poisoned by an insider they were yet to decipher. Shantel was stabbing Scarlett in the back, and the whole school was filled with dead bodies. Brave wolves who had fought with their lives and had died. Some in their human form, and the rest in their wolf forms.

Atlas leaves Scarlett's room feeling refreshed, affirmed and with a plan to hold down the pack as long as it takes, especially until Scarlett gets back.
