14. DEATH

 They threw me in my room and left me there. I woke up lying in bed with nothing but darkness filling the room. I knew there were guards outside my door, making sure I did not walk out of there.

I just folded myself in a ball and lay there staring into space. My back was on fire. The skin had healed and closed back up but the pain was as if it was bare, as if someone was pouring salt on the wound and just setting it alight. The tears streamed down my face, falling on my pillows until it was just wet all over where my head lay. I did not belong in this world; I did not belong with these people and they would kill me.

Run.

I was tired.

I fell in and out of consciousness, my body taking time to recover, feeling beyond exhausted. I felt so weak, could barely walk to the bathroom to take a shower but I did.
