50. A BETA'S COMMAND PART I
My body shook, shook so much I brought my hand up over my mouth to hold the sob. It was hard, threatening to break me apart and I would not let that happen.
The next tears dropped down, feeling them burn my skin before blinking everything back. I swallowed all the hurt, pushed down all the pain and just kept blinking it all back.
The tears were wiped away, my body turning with my head held high.
My lips were quivering and I bit them because I felt as if they would drop to the floor. My footsteps were slow, trying to find the courage to speak, trying to find the courage to face the woman who had just heard it all unfold. I wondered how gullible I looked to her.
My hand pushed on the door, wanting to bow my head in shame but I would not be a coward. A smile was forced on my face, feeling like a monster about to murder a whole village.

The music filled the whole house. Traditional songs were played as the sun went over the horizon. Everyone was happy in the pack, all talking about the whole event and how great it was. I took pleasure in it, a soft smile gracing my face.“Luna, you are late, aren’t you supposed to attend the ball?” One of the ladies asked, pulling me from the dishes I was washing. I had never felt so cold, I had never felt so out of touch with my environment. Each step I took left my body quivering as if it would shutter. “Take my hand.” The king whispered to me after we had both calmed down. I could do anything he said to me and I did just that. “You speak of war; would you even be able to even defend yourself in a simple attack.?” A question came from Alpha Moonseeker.My head snapped to him, hearing the mockery in the question.“I actually do Alpha Moonseeker. I taught myself how to fight from a young age and since I have been here, the royal beta had been kind enough to teach me and polish my skill. So, I assure you alpha, I can protect myself and my pack.” I said back to them with some snickering, not believing. Women in most packs did not train and I hated it.“I am looking forward to seeing you in the meeting tomorrow, Luna Raven.” Alpha Rivers finally said, his head bowing to rise, eyes still staring at me with a smirk that could bring nothing good.“I am looking forward to it too Alpha.” I said back, a tight smile on my face. He turned, his luna doing a bow too then turned to walk away.

The silence was all we needed as both of us were trapped in our heads, trying to find a way out of a situation that provided no escape.The king’s arms were around my waist, mine around his shoulders, resting my face on his and just sitting there as if the world did not exist all around us, as if it was just us in that castle. My eyes were closed, the sound of his steadily beating heart my new addiction for it kept the smile on my face even in such a dire situation we were in.My hands brushed up and down, listening and thinking he was asleep now and again only for him to flake his eyes open and stare at me. I would smile brighter for him before shifting even closer if that was possible and close my eyes again as he closed his.Feet pat up the steps only to stop. I did not know who it was, my back from them. The king did not even shift, he just sat as he was with the person debating on what to do before they turned back and ran down the steps.

Getting to the kitchen, I took all I would need for breakfast, especially that which needed to be defrosted. When it was all out I took everything I would need for baking and just as I was about to start mixing, the kitchen door opened. My head picked up, frowning in wonder of who it might be only to find Brum there. He got in, closing the door behind him to turn and walk towards one of the chairs. To say I was shocked was the least. He placed all his paperwork down and got into it with no word said. The smile on my face was just too bright, loving the poor soul more and more each day if that was even possible because it seemed there was no limit to loving him.
