55. EVERYTHING IS NOT AS IT SEEMS PART I

The silence was all we needed as both of us were trapped in our heads, trying to find a way out of a situation that provided no escape. 

The king’s arms were around my waist, mine around his shoulders, resting my face on his and just sitting there as if the world did not exist all around us, as if it was just us in that castle. My eyes were closed, the sound of his steadily beating heart my new addiction for it kept the smile on my face even in such a dire situation we were in. 

My hands brushed up and down, listening and thinking he was asleep now and again only for him to flake his eyes open and stare at me. I would smile brighter for him before shifting even closer if that was possible and close my eyes again as he closed his.

Feet pat up the steps only to stop. I did not know who it was, my back from them. The king did not even shift, he just sat as he was with the person debating on what to do before they turned back and ran down the steps.

this just occurred to me: the "mate bond" would not work on Luna, because she doesn't have a wolf for the King's wolf to bond with!
