"Over my dead body!"

Rebecca's words echoed across the large halls, increasing in intensity as if she had some type of special ability that did it. It traveled to everyone in the hall, guard, and servant alike until it fell to my ears.

I blinked twice.

The Luna got out of her table and folded her hands. She looked at her sons and shook her head. "It better be one of your casual jokes, if not, I will never let my boys take an Omega as their mate."

The way she pronounced the word Omega bitterly shook me to my core. I took a step back and my breathing quickened. I looked at my shoes, and I saw that my vision was becoming blurry. Tears? Yes, they were tears. I was hurt again, on a larger scale.

Max tried to reason. "But—"

The Luna walked out on them and headed for the door. She didn't even look in my direction; it was as if I didn't even exist to begin with. Some guards escorted her out of the hall, their footsteps becoming distant as they walked.
