Callum's POV

I stared at my mother in the eye for a lengthy period. I could smell everything, from the cigarette she had smoked that evening, to the smell of the furniture. I figured it must have something to do with my emotions.

Max slowly started shaking his head as he processed what she said. I knew it would only be a matter of time before he exploded, I was expecting it.

Ryder's eyes were wide open. His eyes flew over the place, darting from me, Max, Mother, and the hall. I could see that he was having a hard time processing what was being said to him. Maybe he was having a hard time accepting it.

I stepped away from her and I laughed. To be sincere, it wasn't an action that was predetermined. But as I continued laughing, I understood why I laughed.

Our mother had never really seen us as her children from the start. We were all tools for her, for passing the bloodline.
