Chapter 22: Caught

Nyx’s POV

I winced as dried leaves scrunched under our feet as we snuck through the west wilderness back to our hideout at the academy. I could hear my heartbeat in my ears as each slammed harder than the last.

“Shhh!” Clyde snapped his head around, wearing a frown.

“Be quiet!” His voice was a harsh whisper, shooting us earring glares before we resumed our walk.

We drew closer to the old shack which lead to the bunker, trying to avoid being seen by the watchers in the forest.

“Gosh, we made it!” Cindy whispered in excitement.

“Not yet, we don’t know what could happen next.”

Just like Gus replied, we were ridden with uncertainty about what lay ahead of us.

“What is that?” Elrond asked, pointing to a shadow close to the shack.

“Probably just a tree shadow,” Clyde said and no one countered him because we all weren’t sure of many things because of the trick of the night.

“Welcome.”
