4. Danger of past

ARIA

I sat on a high chair designed with red leather and plastered with gold as a design. As Kai and Jax were still arguing, he brought me here. The silver dagger continued to vanish and reappear. Every time it showed, all I could do was hiss in agony. Bullets of sweat aggressively roll down my forehead.

"Aria, where have you been?"

The familiar voice made me jolt from the chair, and a smile slowly crawled to my lips.

I excitedly muttered, "Narcissa?" My sight went everywhere, just to locate her seated on the wood at the high ceiling with her feet moving simultaneously.

"You're a ghost, like me!"

I gave a slight nod. Sadness suddenly overtook me when I realized how lonely she must have been. I was lucky since Jax and Kai could see me. Only I could see Narcissa. We have bonded since I was a child, and her appearance never changes.

"Something weird is happening. Hopefully, this is a dream, and you're here to save me."

Narcissa pursued her lips while squinting her eyes.

"No?" I shake my head as I wait for her response.

"Sorry..."

I sighed. Both of us are quiet enough to feel the thick air surrounding us.

"You're cursed, Aria." She voices with concern.

"I know since everything has happened is not in my favor."

She moved a little nearer and took hold of my hand. Narcissa teases with a sly smile, "You'll be okay. I suppose those attractive dudes will help you."

"Only one is handsome." I blushed as the thought of the pale and well-structured man flashed back in my head.

"Aria!"

A voice called me out, and Narcissa vanished instantly. I looked at the source of the voice, and my mood turned sour when I saw Jax leaning on the corridor while chewing a nasty gum that never seemed to run out of flavor.

"Don't give me that look, princess. You'll thank me after I pull that dagger out." He winks, and my blood starts to boil in anger as he tests my patience.

I want a man who could wash away my fear with happiness, not someone who washed away my fear with anger and frustration. His face alone could ruin my entire year of living. "Where's Kai?"

"Dead."

Of course, he is.

"So, who were you talking to? A friend?" Jax raises his eyebrows in a way that makes me want to squeeze my fist firmly but I restrain myself. He doesn't even matter to me, let alone be necessary to make me squirm with rage.

"Are you ready, precious?"

I automatically smiled when I saw Kai walk past Jax. Jax's mood rolling down his foot made me feel like a winner. He is angry because I acknowledged Kai first rather than him. A part of me thinks Kai is way better than Jax. He is more mysterious and stunning.

The irritation on Jax's face delighted me.

"Stop hurting, mate."

"What?" I said out of the blue, startling Kai, wearing black gloves.

"He is, mate. We must love him."

The nasty voice in my head kept on spitting delirious things. I didn't know that my expression was all over the place because of the voice in my head. My wolf? Heck no.

"Pull it out now, please. I can't stand it any longer." I fake cried while touching the silver sword as the pain it caused me slowly melted a while ago. Now, I am numb from the pain. Maybe because of the Azolla tea.

This is why I like Kai more than Jax.

"Let's start."

On the other hand, Jax kept staring at me, even if Kai was towering above me with his hands gently resting on my shoulder and his other hand trying to find the proper grip for the dagger.

I could see the rage and disdain in Jax's fiery, burning eyes."You made out mate hate us!"

Before I could answer, Kai slowly pulled the dagger, which gave me a splitting headache. For once, it felt like I was being torn apart again. The air was dry as new memories popped up.

Unbearable memories suddenly appear in front of me. Kai and Jax had left in the view. I'm on the ground being pushed over by a big, furious man.

The silver dagger was in his grip.

"Lord Kaizel, run. Save yourself from m─"

A woman in a black silk gown, red eyes, and a black aura. Werewolves and Vampires everywhere. They are attacking her, but why? Who is she? Lord Kaizel...?

"Aria, come back!" I heard Jax calling me, but where?

"Jax, keep your filthy paws away from Aria!"

The scenery vanished. Jax was holding Kai in the collar while Kai gave out a smirk.

"W-What happened?" I asked, and the feeling of wanting to sleep for eternity suddenly kicked in.

"Your eyes suddenly turned white when Kai was about to pull the dagger," Jax murmurs, still not letting Kai go.

With my only strength, I lifted my hands and placed them on Jax's veiny arms. He appeared to have lost his fury for a while, but then shook his head and smacked my hands away.

"She's dying. If we keep on wasting my time from saving her, then the death of the Royal blood is in your hands."

I couldn't see how Jax reacted to Kai's words because my head was already hanging. "P-pull it now..."

"Now!" I scream with the very little strength I have left.

Jax lets aggressively go of Kai. I felt Kai's hands rest on my shoulder while Jax backs away. The view of their waist to their feet is the only thing I can see. I can't go any higher. Is this death?

The brown leather that Kai was wearing came into my view. I closed my eyes and waited for him to pull the dagger.

I am ready. I thought.

I was startled by a loud crash. I tried to lift my head and opened my eyes. My hands were squeezed into fists as my arms were strangely raised. Jax was standing amused in front of me and Kai is nowhere to be spotted. What happened?

"Aria, how did you do that?!"

"Do what?"

"You've hit Kai just now..."

I shake my head, "It wasn't me."

The darkness slowly engulfed me, and the silver dagger quickly slipped off my chest as I fell to the ground.

"It was me, Kaizel..."
