Chapter 12

ELLIE

“Who could that be…?” I asked, as Kai and I were beginning to scramble out of the bed and the room to know who it could have been. There were just too many things on my mind for me to be able to think of a way out of that predicament.

“Oh fuck…” Kai let out as he made for the door. “The car probably got spotted. I have to go now.”

“But we don't know who it could be…” I was hoping that it hadn't been Aiden at the door. I knew just how destructive he could get if he saw just me and Kai all alone in the house.

“There could be a lot of trouble if it's Aiden.” He had totally read my mind with that statement. “I have to head out through the back while you check out who it is.”

“Alright…” I said, as we both hurried out of the room and made our way down the stairs. My heart was racing almost as fast as my feet were. My mind was racing with the thoughts of the worst-case scenarios.
