“Alright…” I said with a sigh as I had my hands up. “Before you judge me, just realize that I wasn't expecting that unexpected encounter just like you both weren't. I was thinking that I would be at the party for a while…”

“What happened, then?” She asked with a sigh as she looked embarrassed. My mother was usually the shy type, and that had me wondering just how much she could have been begging the bed to swallow her while she was on it.

The shame was simply unbearable and I was sure that could have been why Ellie's dad stayed inside and wouldn't come out for even a second. It was such a demeaning moment for all of us. I wanted to make a smooth entry but ended up getting busted in the process.

“The thing is…” I went over the lie I had been rehearsing in my head as I was trying to make peace without getting Ellie in trouble at the same time. “When I got into the party, I saw that Ellie was drunk already and I had to get her home as soon as I could.”
