Chapter Twenty X

Celestine could clearly hear the loud beating of her heart as she was pointing the gun at the man who introduced himself as Nicholas.

She's scared for her life and also for the life of the man in front of her. He might be telling the truth but it was hard for her to believe him. There's a part of her that is telling her to drop the gun but the fear in her heart is much louder than the little voice that is convincing her to believe Nicholas.

"I understand that you're hesitant to believe me because of what happened but trust me, I won't do anything to hurt you," he said calmly, trying to convince her.

She bit her lower lip and harshly wiped the tears on her cheek. "No, I want to see Vincent. I don't want to trust anyone."

"I don't know if he'll come here."

"Call him, please," she said, almost begging.
