The Pack Castle

Lucius's POV

"Maybe we can call them and arrange something with them?" Lucas said as I continued packing my bags.

"There has to be a mistake somewhere and we can fix it from here. You don't have to do as they say," he kept on rambling.

But I knew it and even he did know deep down that there was no way out of this. If I didn't return to the pack castle, they were going to execute Diane's grandfather as the rogue king we have been after all of these years.

And I couldn't let that happen.

"Lucius, you can speak to them. There has to—"

I closed my bag and turned to him briskly, making his words hang in his throat. "You know that won't change their mind," I told him, my voice filled with pain that burned my veins.

"But what about Diane?" Lucas asked the very question that was burning my wolf.

With every energy in me, I wanted to stay and keep searching for Diane myself. But I would only be doing more damage if I let my people kill her grandfather.
