Chapter One - Andrea

"Whatever souls are made of, his and mine are the same" ...

Andrea gently folded over the soft spine of the book in her hands, clinging onto those last words. Committing them to memory, unwilling to let them be forgotten from this small disregarded room – if you could consider it that. She had found the small torn book stuffed into a hole in the wall within her second year inside this cell.

"We will find our mate", Nyx purred.

"Right, being locked in here will make it easy", she growled at her inner wolf, exasperated by her constant upkeep of optimism, regarding their 'situation'.

It has been six years since she was taken during the war that broke out amongst the three largest packs in the region: Stark Pack, Blue blood pack and the Crimson Pack. As an elite warrior of the crimson pack, she had been tasked with taking down the higher-ranking wolves within the enemy Stark and Blue Blood packs. When the war finally broke out Andrea was one of the first elite warriors of her pack, at only twenty-one years old she had been their youngest, yet unsurpassed warrior, an honour Andrea wore proudly. In spite of her capture, she succeeded in her task – killing the alpha and beta of the Stark Park. She had hoped to take down the beta of the Blue Blood pack as their Alpha was unaccounted for on the field, however she barely managed to injure him before she was overrun by stark pack warriors. Her capture was a small price to pay in giving her pack the edge they needed in keeping her people safe. The Blue Blood and Stark pack had been edging into their territory more frequently in the two years leading up to the war, it left countless of her pack families dead, poor and starving. Alpha Jackson of the crimson pack had tried to push back relentlessly, in a last attempt to save them, however their enemies proved resourceful.

"GET UP!", a guard roared from behind the silver coated door.

Andrea was momentarily stunned by the unprovoked outburst from the man, in her time here she had been ignored and beaten, but never addressed directly. She pushed herself up from the hard stone floor, Nyx growled unconsciously.

"That was a bad idea", she cautioned her wolf. Nyx was known for acting without thinking and it often got Andrea into deadly situations.

The metal door rocketed off the wall and the huge man behind it rushed into the room, arm raised and brought down a silver bar, aiming for her head. The disgust in his features was all the fuel he needed to inflict harm on her. Instinctively she lifted her arms in an attempt to protect herself, only to feel the searing burning off flesh flare across her arm. Silver was one of two things that proved lethal against werewolves and her captors made sure to use it often. She had only just registered the pain in her arm when the guard was instantly aiming his second blow towards her ribs, she made a grab for his wrist and threw all her weight into his chest – unbalancing him – before she half shifted her hands, slicing across his throat. His large body clattered to the floor in a pile of his own blood, his disgusted expression still etched across his pale features. She was panting by the time she slumped against the wall. Malnourishment and imprisonment had made her weak over the years, however Andrea was still better than these people on her worst day.

"That was a waste", a rough voice engulfed the room. Andrew watched her defend herself before he made himself known.

"Enjoy the show? Your turn?", she challenged the beta of stark pack, hoping he would accept. Death was guaranteed when held captive and she happened to be in the habit of trying to rush it along.

"Come", the beta sneered. Andrew knew killing her wasn't an option – he had been ordered not to by his alpha – however, it didn't stop him wanting to. She was the reason his parents were dead and he would have enjoyed watching her die.

He led them through the cells and along a corridor roughly 1 mile long. They had been walking for the best part of 45 mins before the he stopped in front of a large white door.

The sound of voices on the other side had increased, as they entered yet another row of cells. Only this time Andrew stopped five cells down and looked in on a prisoner.

"Hurry up", he growled. He didn't have to look over to know the woman had stopped after entering the room. Her movements were catlike but he tracked them easily.

There was a familiar scent in the air here, that had Andrea almost running to the cell.

"Alpha Jackson", she screamed at the dying man lying on the floor. He was a broken version of the alpha she had known and loved. His eyes followed her showing the slightest hint of shock.

"Andrea", his voice, broke on her name and she watched his inner wolf attempt to come forth.

Quickly, they dragged her from the dungeons of the Stark pack house and into the main house. She made no attempt to fight them even when the light burst from every corner and she was blindingly ushered into an office.

"You're the wolf that killed my father", growled Alpha Mathew of the Stark Pack. He held his position behind his mahogany desk – his fist curling as she entered the room. He had taken over at the age of twenty-five when the news of his father's death had reached them.

"Why didn't you kill me?"

"You didn't deserve mercy", he stood from the wilted leather chair and made his way towards her. It was something he had battled with during her capture. His father would not have killed her in case she proved useful, therefore he had reluctantly left her in the cells to rot.

"I need you to kill an alpha for me", smiling at how his father's wisdom had proved his young son wrong.

"Kill him yourself", a snarl rose from her lips.

"I can't. I have a treaty with the Blue Moon pack", he grumbled, unwilling to give this she-wolf important information.

There were a few feet between them now and Andrea was certain she could feel the heat radiating off his body.

"He's Angry", Nyx cautioned.

"Of course, he is. Do you honestly think he will let us walk out of here? It's a trap", she could feel Nyx agreement at her words.

"Kill their alpha, give me proof and I will let your alpha go", he smirked at her shocked expression. Mathew knew convincing her may not go as smoothly as he had planned.

"Why would you do that?", she enquired. "He's lying", Nyx added.

"Your Pack is no longer, neither of you are a threat", he shrugged at his words and leaned against the edge of the large desk. decreasing the distance between them. Anyone who knew of Andrea Grayson, understood that she would always be a threat. One Mathew was willing to dispose of after she did his biding.

"Then who is the threat?", her head tilted unconsciously, scrutinising his every move.

"Alpha Damien Anderson, of the Blue blood pack" he growled. Andrea noticed how his fists clenched, his eyes glazed over – his wolfs anger giving away his hatred.

"They will kill me the moment I succeed", the alpha before her smirked knowingly at her words. Alpha Damien of the Blue Moon pack was the most ruthless Alpha in centuries and Mathew was certain his people would hunt her down if she succeeded. If she failed then he would certainly kill her himself.

"If you succeed.", he corrected her impatiently. "Alpha Damien is a true blooded wolf"

His words evidently shocked her, the expression on her face betraying her. True blooded wolves are the rarest form of wolf amongst their kind. To have no tainted human genes meant your werewolf was the strongest, fastest and most lethal creature in this world. They were practically considered royalty. A true blooded male wolf was more common than the female kind, not because it was more common for the gene to be establish in a male wolf, rather, because true blooded females were hunted down by alphas all over the world. Regardless of their mate status, it was believed that offspring from a true blooded she wolf would give you stronger, more capable off spring – future alphas.

They were very difficult to kill, if you managed to get close enough.

"I'd rather rot in your cell, or take the risk I piss you off enough you'll just kill me", She chuckled slightly.

"I thought you might say that", Alpha Mathew Sighed, slowly making his way around his desk before lowering himself into his wrinkled leather seat. He was prolonging this moment, sensing my apprehension. He slid a thick white envelope across the desk, arching an eyebrow when she held her position, reluctant to get closer to her captive.

Andrea approached the desk, slowly - monitoring his every move, unwilling to accept his peaceful nature – and snatched up the envelope. The documents spilled out across the desk and before she could control it, the desk under her grip was shaking from the deep growls residing from within her chest. Bodies in a sea of blood, was what lay within those pictures. Not just any bodies, the torn off pieces of her family: her mothers afraid features still cemented to her motionless body, surrounded by the limps of her father Daniel and younger brother Jamie.

"They will fucking, pay for this!", Nyx roared inside my mind, igniting the fury already ablaze.

There had to be over fifty pictures – zoomed in and out – of their gruesome murder. It was obvious they had suffered and she would make sure that the person who did this suffered too.

"Boss, we need to take her out now", a boy I hadn't heard enter the room, shouted over my growls. The child made the mistake of encasing his half-shifted hand onto my right shoulder, a warning. Without hesitation I was twisting under his arm and ensuring a steady grip around his throat, before throwing his back first onto the thick desk. His body weight crushing the last evidence of my murdered family beneath him. The thought enraged me more and I was about to rip his throat out, when I felt the first silver chain wrap around my chest, restricting my arms to my sides – burning through my skin.

"Andrea, don't let them stop us!", Nyx roared in my ear. "Let me out"

A second silver chain joined the first, only this one wrapped around my waist, ensuring more sizzling of my already battered and scarred body.

"You seem to be under the impression I showed you this because I killed them, I did not. Here is your proof", Alpha Mathew pushed one of the photos in front of my eyes and I made my last attempt to get free. I had to think and as much as silver weakened a wolf, I had enough tolerance over the years to be able to last longer than most. Beta Andrew holding the second set of chains was the first to go. I wrapped my hand around the metal, screaming at the burn, before pulling it towards me with all my force, knocking the beta off his feet. When the chains became lose, I unwrapped myself throwing them in his direction, enjoying the painful cry he let out at the sudden contact with silver. The younger boy who had almost died at my hands was responsible for the other set of chains, only force wasn't necessary. He dropped the chains at his feet, unwilling to challenge me again.

Enraged, Andrea stalked towards their Alpha,

"GIVE ME THAT!", Nyx roared her voice carrying outside of her.

The photo he placed into her shaken hands was a faraway picture of her childhood home back in crimson pack. Only a wolf was exiting it carrying a small girl around 6 years old. She clung to an old tattered brown wolf soft toy, her small head tucked away into the shoulder of the wolf, shielding her eyes from the litter of bodies surrounding our childhood home. Nadia had survived and she was being taken into a black SUV by the beta of the blue blood pack.

"Where did they take her", she fought, unsuccessfully to keep the tremor out of her voice.

"To Blue Blood pack, the Alpha took her. The Alpha I want you to kill", Alpha Mathews voice remained steady and calm, watching her with slight interest.

"What do you get out of me killing him?", she sneered back.  "I doubt your request has anything to do with helping me"

His gaze studied her longer than necessary before he finally spoke, "revenge"

"I can't take down a true blooded Alpha in my condition", she admitted. She knew the last six years in that cell had deteriorated her in many ways. Andrea understood the importance of succeeding and the skill needed to pull this off.

"You could have fooled me", growled Beta Andrew from behind her. Andrea smirked at the underlying compliment in his words, yet choose to ignore it.

"You will leave in 2 months – you will train and eat and I have transferred you into their pack temporarily as a teacher", Alpha Mathews confirmed.

His attention otherwise occupied by whatever his beta was mind linking him. "You will have 4 guards with you at all times until you leave us", he continued.

Andrea nodded at his words, if it meant saving her sister then she would do anything they wanted.
