I knew coming here wasn't the best idea but I didn't realize just how terrible it was till I was here, staring into the eyes of my old nanny.

She looked like she had ages ten years and her eyes were empty but she managed to give us a small smile.

“Welcome, Alpha,” she bowed to Ares, who made a non-committal sound at the back of his throat in reply.

She turned to me and of course the recognition and excitement that was on her face each time she saw me wasn't there and she took her eyes off me.

“Right this way, please,” she motioned for us to follow her and I swallowed the lump that had formed at the back of my throat and willed my feet to move.

“If you're going to puke, don't do it here,” Ares warned firmly in my ear and I could only imagine the expression on my face.
